Absolutely amazing. As a Maltese i don't really look to eat traditional Maltese food but as soon as i saw the menu i wanted to order everything. I ended up taking the rabbit ravioli and the horse meat and i was amazed the food was spectacular not even from my grandma did i ever taste such delicious traditional Maltese food. If you are in gozo its a must to go there and try it for yourself. Staff are super helpful and friendly and happy to help you. I also got a chance to meet the owner and he is super humble and goes out of the way to give you the best experience whilst dining. I only managed to take a picture of what my fiance ate (suckling pork) as I had already started eating (it was too tempting 😂) Very well done to all the staff and to the owner you have an amazing restaurant and i will be back every time im in gozo

It was purely by chance that we came across Tal Furnar on our way up from the port to our accommodation. We initially stopped with the idea of having a quick drink but after seeing inside we decided to eat earlier than anticipated. We were the first ones in there but by the time we left the place was full. People were being turned away. The hospitality was excellent. The owners (and family) were so attentive and all had time to engage with you and share their story. We watched our food being cooked in the large oven in the room and it was wonderful. I've never had a fruit pizza before but recommend you try it. It was delicious, I ended up taking some home it was that big. If you're reading this then I highly recommend you go see it for yourself. My wife & I will definitely be returning as it's a little treasure.

We have been coming to Gozo for 14 years, when we heard about this place I was excited to visit it but covid came along and put our plans back. Roll on a few years and we returned to our paradise island, staying in Xaghra meant we had an excuse to visit. From our first contact, we had an exceptional experience, a warm and friendly greeting, a talk about their history and how important it is to keep the traditional way of baking and cooking alive. The food was above delicious and after our meals we drank in a local bar, talking about what our favourite meal was after 5 nights of eating out, this place came top for all 6 of us. If you come to Gozo, give them a visit, you will need extra time as good food cooked with love takes time. Enjoy your visit!

A disappointing dinner.. Eating fish that tastes of rosemary.... When lampuki are in season you don't expect to be charged 40€ ....39.80€ to be exact for 2 fish that are hardly 600gms... The service was good ... but its wicked to serve food tasting of herbs.. not tasting the fish at all.... Our first dinner and never again Thanks but no thanks... Further more these fish were not shallow fried with whole garlic clove but deep fried...the fish was over cooked and dry.. tasteless... If this is cooked as they cook at home as claimed... Better be homeless then eating overcooked, overherbed ...not forgetting over charging customers. Lampuki in Gozo are selling for a maximum price of €7 a kilo... even less for the 2 small fish you served.... Overcooked lampuki tasting of rosemary.. €17.50 x 2 small fish is over charging. Infact I phoned to see if the was correct It was confirmed that €17.50 for a small overcooked lampuki , no mistake... I sorry my mistake for not sending back the food.. We only wanted to eat lampuki decently cooked... No complimentary drink is acceptable to justify serving such tasteless food.. We say again no thanks even for your...

Lovely welcome and amazing starters, sadly our main course was really disappointing. I had to send my dish back as it was so bad and the waiter recommended I had something else. The pizza was also disappointing…coming from that amazing oven they really should have been so much better!

What was most upsetting is that when we said we didn’t intend to pay for everything because we were so disappointed, the proprietors responded less than positively.

I was accused of taking my family for dinner without having any money to pay and when I said that the discount they offered was insufficient, I was accused of miking the situation and they intended to call the police.

A real shame - as I said the starters were excellent and I really enjoyed the wine - rather wish I’d left at that point!

I’ve never sent a dish back in my life - and I don’t leave reviews, but to be accused of having no money to feed my family and to have such an aggressive response to my disappointment - I’ve left this...

After hearing so many glowing reviews, I had incredibly high expectations before visiting. We were excited to try the local food, so we made our way there on a Saturday evening. While the place was understandably full, and we did get our wine, we were left waiting for 40 minutes at an empty table before I had to ask if everything was alright with our order. Only then did we receive some bread.

We decided to start off with something simple, hoping to try a bit of everything, but unfortunately, what we received was underwhelming. The furnaretti was nearly empty inside, making it difficult to taste the rabbit over the fried ravioli—honestly, it felt like an afterthought. And the much-hyped ribs? While they were indeed soft and tasty, they certainly didn’t feel anything out of the ordinary. Overall, it was just average, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the high expectations we had. Pity, maybe it was just not the best...
