We arrived with great expectations, having heard the restaurant was the best Chinese on Gozo. The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming. We were greeted by a friendly server and given menus. We decided on the set menu #1 for 2 people. We added a bottle of wine from the excellent wine list and an order of pan fried dumplings to the set menu. The prawn crackers and sauces that came first were delicious. After that, it was a downhill slide on a salt lick. Everything was so salty it was sickening. Additionally, most of the dishes had loads of sugar. There was very little differentiation in individual dishes' flavors. One of the starters was made from potatoes and chicken (I forgot the name). It was tasteless. The BBQ ribs were BBQ bones with only a scrap of meat and a horribly sweet so-called BBQ sauce. The dumplings were greasy and filled with horrid sweet 'surprise meat.' The spring rolls were cooked like egg rolls and were greasy, containing only cabbage and bean sprouts. The lemon chicken was covered with a sweet lemon pie-like sauce. The chicken was overcoated with batter and fried until it was hard and challenging to chew. The sliced fish dish was way over-salted and overcooked. The "vegetable fried rice" was obviously 'boil-in-the-bag' rice that contained a few frozen peas, carrots, and one or two green beans, none of which ever saw the inside of a wok — but it wasn't salty, just soggy. Our dessert of ice cream was imitation ice cream, but not salty. The service was outstanding, with a professional demeanor and attitude. The atmosphere is lovely, clean, and calm. Regarding the food, I can forgive the occasionally oversalted dish. Still, when five out of six cause me dehydration, it's criminal. The €80 we spent was a waste of money and a big disappointment. I will not return and do not recommend the place for more than drinks. Sorry, Xi-Xi, you did not...

Quite honestly the WORST EVER CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE! Our family were once fanatical patrons that is up until the day we complained about the food. Don't bother bringing a complaint to this restaurant owner's attention, she won't listen, she does not care and she is so unbelievably insulting and rude. The only apology you will receive is 'sorry it wasn't to your liking' . I called the restaurant once we got home with our take away to bring our comments to their attention. Our take away for five persons was INEDIBLE!!!!!!🤢 The owner requested me to return the food, for a refund, which I did the following day. She then incredibly tasted all the dishes (in this era of Covid-19 - even though we had scraped off our plates back into the take away containers!) she defended each and every one. She said that was how she served the food and there was nothing wrong with it. I was however, accused of adding water to the soup!!!! I was told that she had five tables who had all eaten the same food the night before with no complaints! That is not what patrons expects to hear! Mentioning to the owner that you have either lived in the far east, well travelled or that you are a trained chef (so in theory not an uneducated palate), is met with indignant arrogance. She didn't even care that we wouldn't be back and incredulously accused me of blackmail, haha! Nope not blackmail just HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT - I will not be parting with my hard earned money at this restaurant ever again. I left with no apology, no refund and no faith in that restaurant's integrity and desire to please and retain their customers no matter how many years you have been a fan... If Google would let me review with no stars I would 🤬A perfect example of anti-customer service par...

Xi Xi located in Xaghra, Gozo two minutes from the public bus stop on Vjal-8 ta' Settembru. When entering it is tastefully decorated in a modern Chinese motif. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our servers were quick to take our order, bring our water and wine with wonderful shrimp crackers and accompaniments. That was the end of the wonderful food. We ordered from the fixed menu with an extra order of grilled dumplings. The fixed menu A was our choice consisting of appetizers BBQ ribs and a potato/chicken patty, and the Guo Tie we ordered extra. The main dishes were lemon chicken and stir fried sliced fish with veggies, and rice with bits of carrots, peas and green beans. With the exception of the rice, every bite was inundated with either MSG or salt. I'm not sure which but it ruined any chance of tasting anything. Add the amount of sugar used on the ribs, chicken, mystery meat Guo Tie, the gelatinous lemon sauce, and you have a recipe for a very unpleasant meal at an upper end cost for Gozo. The have an excellent wine list and nice atmosphere making it a great place to have a...

Beyond Gozo standards. Pretty close to authentic flavours. Run by a Chinese lady married to a local and kitchen is manned by 2 experienced Chinese chefs. I love their homemade cha siu buns even though it’s slightly different from how it is from Hong Kong, they are excellent nonetheless. You can truly tell the food is well marinated and prepared instead of adding msg or sugar added in to enhance flavouring (a lot of restaurants do that). Dont be fooled by the pictures, food was surprisingly light. The pork belly special was the highlight of the night, even though all the dishes where phenomenal. Both my asian and western friends enjoyed it thoroughly.
