A resort apartment. A wonderful place to stay in Flic en Flac. Location. Location. Location.||Location is perfect. Our room was so SPACİOUS and CLEAN. Very big balcony overlooking the ocean.. 65 sq. meter with the kitchen. Big bathroom...TV. İn room safe and air conditoner... and price is perfect for budget. What more one can ask for? (We stayed in room 6 and all rooms are not created equal)|||| It is only 10 minutes easy walk to Spar market .We bought everything we nededed from there. Specially the bread "Baguette A L'ancienne Unite" is the most delicious bread they make. We even brought home with us. I never would have believed I would bring back bread from Mauritius. To have breakfast in the balcony with sea view added much to our pleasure. So is sipping beer & wine and reading book in the balcony.||||Underneath of the residence, there is Chez Pepe italian restaurant. They give 20% discount to the hotel customers. Food and service is good. Waiters are nice. There are many restaurants nearby walking distance.|| ||Now, couple of small things can be improved. Towels need to be replaced urgently. They are so worn out and hard, it hurts your skin. Also a drip coffee machine would be appreciated by coffee lovers. ||||On Fridays and Saturday nights unbearably loud music (it a shame it is called music not noise) coming from next door disco "Shotz Night Club" till 4 am. in the morning. And after 4 am. about half an hour more, youth coming out of disco, continue party on the street and play deafening music with highest decibel from their car. No consideration for anybody. It is so annoying and they throw empty beer bottles on the ground. No way to sleep these days even with ear plug.( I wonder why there are no noise regulations in Mauritus.) But week nights, no noise coming from the street.||||In the morning after 8 am, you can buy fresh baguette two door next (on the left) for your breakfast from buffet. They also sell beer. But we preferred to buy A L'ancienne Unite bread from Spar a day before and toast it in the oven for breakfast, after we discovered this delicious bread.Yummy yummy!||||Swimming in the ocean, only 20- 25 metres from your apartment is so convenient. Who needs expensive resort hotels? ||||Last but not least, Sindie is such a lovely girl. She takes care of the place. I truly enjoyed chatting with her. She is so helpful and has a smiling face. ||||Last day of our stay, our departure was in the evening. We hired a taxi for the whole day for 2500 Rs. He picked us up at 8.00 am. and took us to all the sight seeing places and cities in the south (South and Southwest tour) and dropped us off at the airport at 5.30 pm. ||||If I go to the Flic en Flac again, I would happily stay here again, but not on...

We stayed in unit 7 on the 2nd floor for just over a week. Payment is in cash and in advance, so if you are not comfortable in this accommodation there is little you can do to change it. This is common in many self catering accommodations in Flic en Flac.
As we had a family gathering and many friends and family stayed at other places in Flic en Flac we had a good opportunity for comparison. The price of this suite was high compared to others in the area and the quality of the environment was poor compared to others. We were at the bottom of the list for family get-togethers
Once thing to remember is that hot air rises and if the ventilation is poor and there is no free flow of air, than the result is something quite hot and steamy. The lounge and kitchen were so uncomfortably hot that we avoided them as much as possible. However, if you are partial to Turkish Baths you may bask contentedly in this environment.
We arrived in mid October so it was not the hottest time of the year. I cannot imagine how it must be later in the summer.
The air conditioner worked well in the bedroom closest to the balcony and we were sheltered from the general sounds of frolicking neighbours. The air conditioner in the 2nd bedroom chugged noisily through the night to the accompaniment of the live band in the restaurant next door. The remote control was difficult to work and our guest awoke, tired, blue lipped and "frozen to a popsicle" (his words). On switching off the AC unit, the guest was subjected to the delightful bouquet of old food wafting up from neighboring restaurants.
On the positive side
The kitchen was well equipped. It had most of the equipment necessary for cooking and also had nice tea cups and spouted mugs for the elegant and directed pouring of tea into the mouth
Comment
In fairness one has to expect a certain amount of noise on the beachfront in this busy and popular area of Flic en Flac and it is important to thoroughly research the area before booking. We learnt a valuable lesson in this.
The location opposite the beach was convenient and if you are prepared to put up with the hot and querky aspects of this suite then it may suit you well.
I cannot comment on any of the other suites in Chez Pepe.
Suggestion
If this suite is to be livible it needs to be fully...
Read moreDon't judge this review by its title. Chez Pepe's Apartments are suitable for a great break-away without paying the ridiculous resort rates, but it is NOT a crummy rundown budget flea bag.||The rooms are comfortable, clean and adequately furnished.||The staff were friendly and courteous.||The location is central on the Flic en Flac beach road and great restaurants, small local eateries, banks and a well stocked supermarket is all within comfortable walking distance.||Some nights the club next door might be a bit noisy, but a tasty whisky for a nightcap will help to fall asleep.||The Mauritian Bus/Transport service has a stop 50 meters away and a trip from Flic en Flac to Port Louis costs a mere 34 Rupees. A taxi for the same trip will cost you between 700 and 1000 Rupees. (Ask the friendly staff to direct you to the bus stop. Tickets can be bought on the bus on the driver will tell you where to get the return bus in the Port Louis terminal)||The beach is 30 meters from the apartments and the local Parks Authority keeps it very clean.||Various tour or excursion operators walk the beach daily to advertise their trips. These guys must all be registered with the Mauritian Tourist authority, so if you want to, you are welcome to ask to see their registration documents to avoid being ripped of.||We did a lot of walking through the village and met and spoke to a lot of locals. The people in Flic Flac are very friendly and helpful.||||So if you want a Mauritian experience outside the 4 walls of a resort. then Chez Pepe is the...
