La Marmite Mauricienne's beachfront location in Flic en Flac promises an idyllic dining experience, though the reality falls short. While initial seating is prompt, the food experience reveals inconsistencies.
The "beignets fromage" taste distinctly pre-made, and the "poulet au miel," despite generous portions, suffers from excessive greasiness.
My medium-rare beef steak was cooked correctly, demonstrating skills. However, the pepper sauce (which they forgot) was a bland, creamy disappointment, lacking any pepper flavor. This starkly contrasted with the well-presented and fresh "bol renverse," highlighting the kitchen's potential.
It is important to note that the food, in itself, is generally good. However, the crucial issue lies in the pricing. The cost of a basic meal is high, especially considering the overall experience. At these prices, one expects not just "good," but among the very best. For the same expenditure, diners can find significantly superior options nearby.
Service was frustratingly slow. Repeated requests were met with vague assurances, leading to growing impatience. This lack of efficient service negatively impacted the overall experience.
In essence, La Marmite Mauricienne's prime location is overshadowed by overpriced, inconsistent food and slow service. While the "bol renverse" shows potential, the overall experience is...
Read moreI came here because of the good reviews on trip advisor and Google maps. I would NOT suggest coming here again. It took a while for the waiter to come to our table after ordering, I had to call him over. When my friend asked what kind of desserts there were, the waiter stared at us and said "I think we have ive cream?" And she ordered coconut ice cream. I ordered the chicken and prawn egg fried rice. A minute later the owner came with a pineapple flambe with rum and icecream to the table next to us, clearly this place had other desserts so I dont know how the waiter only offered us ice cream. When the food came out not too long after (I was wondering why it was so quick) it was because the rice was cold on the outside and hot inside somehow and brought her CHOCOLATE ice cream instead of coconut. Finally ready to leave, I asked a second waiter to put the extra food for takeaway and bring us the bill. It took another 10 minutes before he brought them over. Lack luster service and sub par food. Read moreVariety of food to choose from. My dad ordered the beef black bean and he said it was the best food he’d eaten all trip and that it was wonderful. I ordered the beef steak with mushroom sauce and it was PHENOMENAL! The steak was marinated beautifully and it was hugging my taste buds. Mum said her chicken curry was good but too much (but portions were all relatively good nonetheless). Only complaint may be that one of the starters we had - some shrimpy thing - did not have the digestive tract taken out, thankfully i didn’t eat that. Service might have been slow at times but they were extremely busy and trying to cope. Small and humble dessert menu. Atmosphere was interesting because we were sitting near the road, music was blasting from the streets so pretty loud but that may be because it was a sunday and they were celebrating. But looking at the rest of the restaurant it was nice and cozy, air con on so not too hot. Mum just complained about the toilet but she is just a...
