Great potential but a disappointing experience 1hr20min trip that we took just to visit this restaurant. Here was our experience… Upon entering, there was no one behind the bar/till area nor the host stand. Another patron walked through to the back of the restaurant to find a member of staff. (We had placed a booking as suggested on their website the night before - but the staff didn’t ask for our reservation information) After being seated, we waited 15 minutes before someone came to ask for our drinks order. There were stores of furniture in the front of restaurant and no music, so atmosphere was lacking. We were asked for dietary requirements and confirmed this. Rather bizarrely, the chefs wordlessly delivered each dish to the table and servers barely seen after taking orders. Sushi concepts looked good but we ended up with an ingredient that we couldn’t eat (as per the aforementioned dietary requirement) but again no server was to be seen. Had to wait until another patron was being chased for their payment outside to catch the server. Our least favourite point was one of the servers arguing with another employee that he should be helping her within earshot of our table. There was also a crying baby being carried around and fussed over behind the till and the area at the back of the restaurant, it was just odd. The hot food was not served hot and had clearly been left to rest under heat lamps as our ‘medium rare’ tiger steak came out with just a spec of pink and warm. As patrons that have spent years in the hospitality industry, we were amazed that the dishes of guests that left as we entered remained dirty and at their table for the entire hour that we were in the restaurant. If you’re open to constructive advice… - Music would be great to enhance atmosphere - Presence of front of house team is vital for seamless service in the eyes of your customers - Communication and adequate prep in the kitchen will eliminate dishes being served intermittently and ensure correct temperatures are delivered - Employee disputes are inevitable but should be taking place away from customers, it reflects poorly on your business

We had a dinner reservation for 8:30 PM, but unfortunately, the experience fell short from the very beginning. There was no one at the entrance to greet us—we had to make our way to the back seating area ourselves, where three waiters just stared at us without saying a word. Eventually, we mentioned our reservation and were seated, but the welcome was far from warm or professional. The ambiance in the back area was particularly poor. We were seated next to the kitchen—no music, no atmosphere, just silence and an awkward vibe. Waiters would often come and stand near us or in front of the kitchen, staring blankly or doing nothing. I believe staff should have a designated area to wait or stay busy, especially when guests are seated in such close proximity. Service was hit-and-miss. A foreign waiter (wearing a turban) approached us to take our order and stood very close, staring at me even after we had asked for a few more minutes to decide. It was uncomfortable and quite unprofessional. On a more positive note, the African waitress who later attended to us was genuinely friendly and helpful—she was the only staff member who brought any warmth to the service. As for the drinks, I tried ordering three different items from the menu, all of which were unavailable. I ended up having iced tea, which wasn’t what I wanted at all. Disappointing. Food-wise, the chicken chopsticks starter was actually good—flavourful and well-prepared. The little cracker and dip served beforehand was also a nice touch. My partner had two sushi plates that were decent but nothing exceptional. However, my main dish—the sizzling seafood—was a complete letdown. The rice was served almost cold, and I had to request for it to be heated up. The seafood itself wasn’t sizzling at all—it came out dry, with barely any sauce, and tasted like a basic sauté with garlic. It completely missed the mark. When I brought it up with the waitress and the Mauritian man who appeared to be in charge, all I got was a simple “sorry.” All in all, I had high hopes for this place, but the overall experience was disappointing—from the ambiance and service to the food quality.

Wat Cha Ri Restaurant: Amazing Asian Fusion, Worth the Wait Wat Cha Ri Restaurant delivers a consistently high-quality culinary experience, making it a standout for anyone craving Asian fusion. While the food is truly five-star, the pace of service is a definite factor to consider before you visit. The Food: Perfectly Blended Excellence The primary reason to visit Wat Cha Ri is the food—it is simply amazing. The kitchen achieves a perfect blend of Asian fusion, seamlessly combining different flavors and techniques. We are always impressed by the taste, and most importantly, the dishes are remarkably consistent. You can return again and again knowing you will get the same high standard of flavor. Service and Atmosphere: The serving staff themselves are excellent. The servers are always nice and attentive when they are at your table. During our visits for lunch, we’ve found that it never gets too busy, though we suspect it maybe gets busy for dinner. The Catch: The Wait Time The main area for improvement is the speed of service. While the staff is friendly, service can be a bit slow, and it usually takes a really long time to get your food. If you are dining on a tight schedule, be prepared for a leisurely meal. Parking Logistics Parking requires a little planning: * Do NOT park in the compound. The security staff will consistently guide you to park outside on the street. * Parking is therefore on the street, so be prepared to find a space along the curb. Verdict: If you prioritize exceptional taste and consistent quality in Asian fusion cuisine, Wat Cha Ri is a must-try. The food is easily some of the best in the area. Just ensure you are not in a rush and can budget extra time for your meal. The delightful food and kind servers make the wait worthwhile. We look forward to eventually trying their dinner service!

We’ve been there yesterday, so what can I tell about this place, it’s been interesting in many ways. We were sitting down and the waitress told us they only take cash. I left and went to the atm. Before I left we ordered a coke+fanta, when I was back (15 min later), there were no drinks yet. Also, there were only wine glasses and no normal drinking glasses. The cans were just put on our table. We ordered three different sushi rolls as mains and chicken satay as a starter. The starter needed nearly 1 hour, it’s been quite tasty, nothing to say about it. After over 1 1/2 hour we got our first sushi roll, there were apples in it, it’s been very irritating, we never ordered it, also a sushi roll with apples in it haven’t been on the menu at all. Even it could get dangerous if somebody else has allergies against it. We called the waitress and told her that we didn't order this, she apologised and said that it was the original recipe, again we were maximally irritated because it wasn't on the menu at all. After 2 hours of waiting, we finally got our first sushi. After we had eaten it, the waitress looked at us from the bar and kindly asked if we would like to order a dessert. We were confused again because we were waiting for two more sushi rolls. Even at the next table, the orders were not correct or did not come at all, as well as at the table behind us. Orders always went back, other guests got desserts and were still waiting for main courses. Unfortunately, it was a complete chaos. Our waitress, the only one who spoke english correctly, apologised several times for what we appreciated. She told us that our order was brought to a wrong table, although on our order slip, we could see our table number at the end. After more than 2 hours, our remaining food came, unfortunately our appetite was almost gone, which is a pity because the sushi was very delicious. Very elaborate, good products and made with love. We were sorry for the waiters and waitresses, whoever owns this restaurant, he had abandoned them that evening. It seemed as if there hadn't been enough staff that evening, at least one waiter had also prepared the food. When we asked the waitress at the end if the cooks were present, which you can see on the order card, she only said "not yet". She apologised again and asked us for a dessert as compensation, she was really very nice. After over 3 hours, almost 11 p.m., we left the restaurant. I give 3 stars and that’s a lot, just because the food was tasty. We have never waited so long for our food in a restaurant. It was not the fault of the staff, they were simply completely overwhelmed with the situation. The owner of this place should be ashamed to leave them there alone with everything.

I will not respond to the owner's response because these claims made by him are not true. I wrote an honest review, but as can be seen in other reviews, the owner only responded with an inability to criticize. These answers are disrespectful, so I'm only giving one star...

Being in the industry I totally understand the stress during a rush hour and shortage of staffs. Despite there was free tables available we prefered to ask ( as we were not even acknowledged) when we asked the person who was super busy taking orders,we were told to wait.

We waited 30 minutes approx which is fine as I prefer waiting than having a bad service. To our great disappointment, despite our wait service was horrible.

The table was not even wiped!!!! They cleared the table and put napkins and glasses. Chair was not clean either. I mean we did not even put any pressure to get the table . All we wanted is to be seated on a clean table and to have a good service.

Ordered a selection of Nigiri and had to ask for the sauce. Was told she was bring 2 plates but waited more than 5 mins for plates to come. She simply forgot us. Was still having our appetizer when the main came. Not to be rude we decided to take the main immediately instead of sending it back to the kitchen. When we had our main course , we waited for cutleries and finally when the manager saw that we were looking at him queried if everything was ok and we had to ask for cutleries. We saw that someone asked guests before us if service was ok but unfortunately none asked us otherwise we would have given the feedbacks there. the owner white guy as so lazy, in the restaurant yet only the black waiter acknowledged us ( to say he was doing necessary for the table at start) the owner completely ignored us. Not welcoming AT ALL.

It is a small restaurant and when we were seated there was only 2 more guests who came after us so it is unacceptable to have such bad service . I forgot to mention that none ever greeted us. If you are forgetting the basics of your customer service then get ready to deal with complaints everyday .

We were not only the unhappy ones today. Most guests before us were unhappy!!

We decided to pay and get out of there as fast as possible . Way too painful to see such horrible service and to stay in such atmosphere.

Had i known i would have been to the Ti couloir next to you. I am sure they have better service there.

I very rarely comment so negatively on google. But take it a constructive criticism if you want to improve. ans also need to know instead to losing money to bad restaurants.

If you see the bad reviews for this restaurant and you see the replies of the owner, you’ll be shocked, of you as an owner do not have manners pr way treating customers, then think you need to take a...

Writing this review fully expecting some defensive comments from the owner/managers.

Wat Chai Ri spent a lot of money on advertising on social media, so I was really curious to visit this establishment. Upon arrival, the lights were very welcoming and from outside the restaurant looks very funky! We did not book a table, as I was unaware that this is almost a pre-requisite. Maybe the restaurant should add that to their bio on Instagram and FB pages as well as that they want you to rather pre-order your food, that will at least inform potential patrons as to how the restaurant prefers to work.

We were seated, and the waiter handed one menu to a table of four people, which is weird in itself. 5mins later he wanted to take our order, the first person had not even finished paging through the menu yet. Once we finished sharing the one menu, we placed our order and about 15 minutes later the first 2 of 4 starters arrived. Fortunately we shared the starters, as it took another 15mins for the remaining starters to arrive. The satays were excellent, and their chicken wings are spicy and very tasty. The honey chicken was very sweet, almost too sweet. Then the wait started, we waited almost an hour for our mains to arrive. But only 2 out of four mains arrived again. We had to ask where the rest of the table's food is, to be told the restaurant is busy and the other tables pre-ordered (again, they should mention they prefer this).

Service was exceptionally poor, the food was good, with only one dish being a bit disappointing (the thai green curry). I would recommend the Black Pearl Hangover, this dish was really delicious.

Very disappointed overall, the food is very good and if only the service could keep up with the quality of the dishes, this restaurant can be so successful.

EDITING THIS REVIEW POST OWNER FEEDBACK: It is great to hear there are digital menus, after the fact. Kudos for being so modern, but then clearly the issue is communication. Communicate that you want your patrons to always book tables ahead of time, also communicate that you want your patrons to order food ahead of arriving at the restaurant, lastly communicate to your patrons who did not do the above, that there are digital menus available, as this was not mentioned at any time during our visit. Also, just would like to add, you did not "manage to get [us] a table", the whole back part of the restaurant was empty. There were probably about 6 or 8 free tables from our arrival to our departure which was...
