Lovely Setting - Overpriced Average to Bad Food. Highly disappointing.
We went with a group of 6. We were excited to try this restaurant. We loved the setting of the open courtyard, tree and water fountain. Our ceaser salad was good but just a few leaves with dressing a 1 crouton.
My wifes burger which was advertised as the "best in town" was a perfectly formed pre-frozen store bought burger. I would have expected a fresh smashed burger. It was average.
My true disappointment came when my meal arrived. I ordered Capellini Pomodoro. It was supposed to be angel hair pasta with tomatoes and herbs. I ordered shrimp on it as an extra. The pasta came and it was a cup size dish of undercooked, hard rigatoni pasta with very little sauce and 4 "tiny" shrimp. The price with the extra miniscule shrimp was high. I ate the 4 tiny shrimp and 3 fork fulls of pasta. It was awful. I pushed it aside and left it there. Through the entire dinner, our waiter never once came to the table to ask any of us how our meals were. They never asked why I wasn't eating my meal that was clearly pushed to the end of the table. When they came to clean the plates I quietly told the waiter that my meal was awful and that I ate the shrimp and only a few noodles. He didn't speak to me about it (although he spoke perfect english). He then went to speak to 2 other restaurant employees about it ( they might have been management/ owners?). I did expect them to at least remove the pasta portion of the meal and leave the $400 mxn surcharge for the 4 tiny shrimp on the bill. The bill came and nothing was done to compensate me for my awful meal. We did not want to complain as we were celebrating a persons birthday at our table. In conclusion, my wifes meal was average at best, mine was awful and not as advertised (wrong pasta), the waiter never checked on how our meals were throughout our entire dinner, I was never offered a replacement dinner for my terrible meal and then no portion of our bill was reduced as compensation. This is no way to run a restaurant and we will never dine...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars, I would. Dining here was not just disappointing it was a total waste of time, energy, and money. It was a slow night as well, no is no reason why we could not have a great experience!
Let’s start with the service: Our server was, quite literally, the most disconnected and emotionless person I’ve ever encountered in hospitality. There was no greeting, no check-in, no "how is everything?" Nothing. Never came to refill our drinks or ask if we needed anything else. Not even a glance to acknowledge we existed once the food hit the table. The entire team seemed more engaged with their phones than the guests. I watched servers and runners openly scrolling and chatting in visible guest areas like it was a break room, not a restaurant. Completely unprofessional.
Now the food… where do I begin? Everything from start to finish was lackluster, bland, and poorly executed. The dishes arrived looking like they were slapped together in a hurry, no care, no flavor, no effort. Tableside Caesar, what a joke! I’ve had better meals on the street. Drinks? Do they even clean their ice machine or wheverever they keep their ice, black specks in our drinks, plates dirty, etc!
But the final offense? The crème brûlée. Dessert is supposed to be the grand finale, the highlight, the moment of redemption, but this was the final nail in the coffin. Half the ramekin was empty. Literally. Like they just forgot to finish filling it. Are you kidding me?! I don’t know if it was laziness, arrogance, or just a complete lack of standards, but serving that...
Read moreI came here with my partner for a date night. We were seated outside, as we requested, at a lovely table by the fountain. The ambiance is really nice, definitely the best thing about the restaurant. We asked for guidance in ordering a bottle of wine, and our waitress clearly had no knowledge of the wine list. We ended up with a bottle that just wasn’t good. For food we ordered several dishes to share: the octopus, bone marrow, Caesar salad, melted cheese with flank steak, and the cheeseburger. We were overwhelmed when they came out all at once! It was stressful choosing what to prioritize as all the dishes really would be best enjoyed fresh. The octopus was nice, but not as tender as the best I’ve had. The bone marrow was delicious, I liked that it was mesquite smoked, and we got a TON of it. Never have I ever had more bone marrow than I can eat. I just wish it came with more tostadas as plain bone marrow is about as rich as it gets. The salad was good, prepared table side, although strangely was prepared by our waitress rather than a chef. The melted cheese didn’t come with flank steak after all. The burger would have been amazing if it wasn’t cold. The French fries were so cold they were inedible at this point. Our waitress kept coming by asking if we were done, making it hard to enjoy our meal at a comfortable pace. Overall it was a pretty disappointing experience, nowhere near as charming and delicious as my visit here 4 years ago. Perhaps it was an off night, but we wish we would’ve spent our...
