Cielomar Rooftop — Restaurant in Baja California Sur

I had a few nearly perfect dining experiences in Baja California Sur but this probably tops them all. Stunning views of the beach and the surrounding mountains makes for a perfect sunset spot. Despite sitting outside there were no flies, wind was at a minimum and the bar/restaurant were sparkling clean. Service was fantastic. Hugo and Wilbur were excellent, walking me through different menu options and just showing interest in my Mexico travels. The food was incredible. Miscello and Fernando were fantastic hosts and waiters who made our evening special. We ordered the artichoke queso fundido and blue fin tuna tartar. The queso had a smokey flavor with the artichokes added and the salsa that accompanied the dish was like a flavor bomb that enhanced the entire dish. Tuna tartar was fresh, had a slight mustard flavor and was served with fresh avocado. The cocktails and wine were exceptional. Live music on the rooftop made the whole evening extra special. Living here in San Jose del Cabo, we use San Jose del Cabo restaurant week to explore new restaurants.

Tonight we ate at Cielomar in the Viceroy Hotel.

Let me say first that this is an expensive restaurant. Let me follow that by saying the food and service was superb, and worth the price.

Dining at this rooftop restaurant was a very enjoyable experience, and we will certainly pass on to our friends when they visit San Jose del Cabo, our recommendation.
