This review comes from a Mexican-American who was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA (the heart of Mexican food!)
Jazmin’s is not your typical street taco rest with a Mexican food menu. The prices are comparable to the U.S. Plates ranging from $25+ for a sit down restaurant. I Purchased a Tortilla soup for my little one, for $10+ and it tasted more like tomato soup w/tortilla chips. (No veggies, no shredded cheese, no shredded chicken)
Do know, Every region in MX has a different way of prepping a dish. And this is Mexican but not your typical little town menu. The plates are presented well but the savors are not what we expected .
The true authentic Mexican favors come from small towns/pueblos or Mexican villages.
The salsas at Jazmin’s are not your typical molcajete style. So, be aware in case you were hoping to eat a good taco with salsa de molcahete.
Our bill consisted of 1 Tampiquena plate 3 Birria tacos w/consome 1 Molcajete (chicken and steak) included a slice of cactus, cheese (not Panela) and 1 chile huero, rice and beans. 1 Sopa de tortilla 1 Cheese fondue with chorizo as an appetizer 1 fresh pineapple drink 1 fresh orange juice 1 coke 2 Paloma drinks (alcohol) 1 flan 2 modelo beers Total $200 US dollars + tip
Service was excellent the first half of our meal, then we never heard back from our server. Random servers would just pop in to retrieve our dirty dishes but not once asked if we’d like something else.
We had to ask for a dessert menu , the flan was ok, we’ve had better back home.
The restaurant itself has all the colors and vibe of an authentic Mexican restaurant. Lots of opportunities for photos. Sadly, no live music was playing as our stop was between 2-4PM.
I’d go back for live music and drinks, perhaps an appetizer.
Hungry for delicious tacos? go to Tacos el Paisa (no alcohol is served). For a family of 5, we paid roughly $65...

Food: Mediocre at best, and certainly not worth the prices they're charging. I'm sad we wasted one of our nights out here. I ordered the Carne Asada Tampiquena, and the highlight of the dish was the rojo enchilada sauce, but otherwise the overarching theme across the board was 'bland'. Thankfully we had some salsa's to add, and the habanero was quite good, but everything on the plate lacked flavor. The beans were way over salted and starting to dry out and were turning gritty. The rice, it was there on the plate, but was uninspired and flavorless - so wasting space and definitely not worth eating. The carne was okay, but tasted only of salt and char, and definitely needed some aging, salsa and some lime.
Drinks: The margaritas were serviceable but too sweet for my liking. We both ordered an extra shot after our first taste and they were much better as a double.
Atmosphere: There was a small group and all of the men were singing (more like shouting) along with the mariachi band at the top of their lungs the entire night. They only stopped to do tequila shots, hug, then whistle and hoot before the next song started. The acoustic guitar player had his amp too loud trying to keep up and was overdriving his speaker, so fidelity was nowhere to be found and just added to the noise.
Service: Our server couldn't hear us, nor we him, due to aforementioned cacophony from 3 tables down. Plus, the group who was there seemed to be regulars and the staff paid them most of the attention and we had to ask for items we'd ordered. He did come by a few times to check on us, so 3* for average.
If you walk in with the expectation that they'll live up to the 4.5 stars, you'll be disappointed. If Jazmin's were at a mall somewhere in Midwest Canada, then I'd be more generous and say it lived up to the expectations (apologies to Canadians...
Read moreCame here on my last night in Cabo for my birthday dinner, solely on the fact of the huge amount of “great” reviews. It’s a beautiful huge restaurant with amazing decorations but the food was not authentic. Had terrible flavor. The service from the moment we sat down was a disappointment. They sat us in the back of the restaurant- which we did not mind because we were away from everything, but no servers came to us or gave us any attention. We asked for a paper menu because our phones wouldn’t load the menu and that took over 5 minutes. After we ordered and waiting over 30 minutes the server came back to let us know one of the items we ordered they did not have anymore. It was annoying because it shouldn’t have taken that long to let us know we had to order something else. It added another 40 minutes of us waiting for our food. I ordered the carne Asada tampiqueña and it was suppose to come sizzling on a platter and it didn’t . It was cold. Had to send it back and after i tried it again it was mediocre no flavor and very chewy meat. We came with 5 people and every bodies food was sad. Not exciting. You can tell the only cater to white tourists With mediocre taste. If ur looking for An Americanized non authentic Mexican restaurant with terrible service- you found the place. I would say that our server tried after i sent back my food and took it off the bill- he was sweet but from the second we sat down at the restaurant it was disappointing with the amount of great reviews. It could have just been our timing but wanted to let people know. If u want something very authentic this isn’t the place. I will say the toilet is gorgeous and probably the...
