We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Kitchen San José del Cabo. It was the perfect spot to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The place has a very inviting vibe which set the tone for our evening. The open-air kitchen allows you to see everything that is happening —watching the chefs work with such precision was fun and it’s clear they take pride in every dish they prepare.

Great tasting menu which lets you sample many of the dishes on the main menu. They use tallow in a lot of the dishes…probably not great for one’s health but adds an amazing flavor profile to the food. Worth it for the great meal you’ll have there.

Much of the food is cooked in a charcoal oven, giving it a subtle, smoky flavor. . The pacing of the meal was flawless, with dishes arriving at just the right moment. The service was equally impressive—Miguel, our server, was attentive, friendly, and ensured we were well looked after throughout the evening.

The food itself was exceptional. . It’s clear that a lot of thought goes into every dish on the menu. The attention to detail, from the preparation to the presentation, made for a really great meal. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, a laid-back atmosphere, and...

A great vibe, outstanding staff, and a fun place for dinner. Drink selection was good, and menu seemed creative. Smoky salad was enough for two...super fresh, perfect amout not tossed dressing but not smoky at all. Grilled pineapple tasted barely grilled but still a good wedge of fruit. Bread was outstanding and even better with butter and salt.

Tempura shrimp and surf and turf were disappointing. Tempura shrimp and the veggies were all bettered and fried but it ended up greasy. If everything had to be fried, I'd recommend different types of coating. But grilled veggies would have been better. The Surf and turf rib was incredible and probably the best thing I've eaten in SJdC. But the shrimp were forgettable and the rice was so salty it was inedible.

The truffles were good and the flavors were fun but would ha e been better if the flavor was infused into the truffle rather than a powdered coating.

While we don't plan to visit Cabo again, if I did, I would give this place another chance. They clearly love food and I loved the open dining and kitchen areas.

UPDATE: I got food poisoning from the surf and turf. I suspect it was fish based sauce because my wife and I shared...

Updated new review:

Overall - everything was great - always love Kitchen. Shrimp app was delicious - tomato app had the best hummus I’ve ever had in my life! Bread - awesome! Mussels - delish! On the critical side - I do know taste buds differ - but neither of us could eat the mashed plantains and cheese - plus - the French fries waaaaaaay too salty - not edible (and I like salt) - and caramel pudding - I asked if “tastes like goat cheese”? - which I don’t like - waiter said “no” - but was very goatie tasting. Despite all that -we love this place, a foodie gem in San Jose - the people are great - service is perfect - one of our favorite places.

7 nights - 6 great meals, KITCHEN TABLE WAS THE BEST AND OUR FAVORITE in all of San Jose. Angie - the GM was so delightful as was all her team. Nicest servers and bartenders. Farm to table experience - we could see the chef’s meticulously making every dish with so much love. Cool vibe and beautiful place. Food was soooooo good. Catch of the day, sea bass, perfect! Smoky greens - yum! Margarita - best in San Jose! You can say we had a perfect night - we’ll be back - kudos to Angie and the team...

What a wonderful meal! During the Thursday Art Walk, we wanted to have dinner. Several restaurants had been suggested to us, which is located just off the beaten path a block. I would suggest reserving a table. We didn’t have a reservation and we were a bit nervous, so went by about 5:15 and we were able to get a table. It’s a fairly new restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere. The current photos represent it well. We enjoyed suggested mezcal cocktails while deciding on meals and had suggested wines with our meals. Danny had great suggestions for us throughout the meal. We started with the Pan Sourdough and KT Crudo. Excellent bread and spreads, and ceviche! The Charred Garden entre was delectable, as was the catch of the day, a sea bass. We shared a delicious Lemon Tart Brûlée for desert. There are many photos of the menu on Google Maps. I was enjoying myself so much I forgot to take photos! I’ve included a photo of the Art Walk, which occurs each Thursday. It’s fun to see.
