If you are looking for an authentic and delicious experience when dining out in Cancun, look no further than Gory Tacos. My wife and I had eaten at a far more expensive restaurant the night before, and we much preferred the food and experience here. We were warmly welcomed and both the patriarch and his sidekick spoke great English, so there was no need for our severely lacking and broken conversational Spanish. We explained my wife's gluten allergy, and he immediately understood and pointed us in the right direction with the menu. I had the Mexican Special, which was rice and beans with enchiladas, a quesidilla, chicken taco, and a piece of thin flank steak. The glutard had fish tacos. Everything was fresh and delicious, including the tasty lemonade we had to drink. The dude next to us had the steak fajitas and I reached across and grabbed a handful and it was great. Just kidding, but it did look delish. I had a coffee to finish and it was also delicious, better than I get at most restaurants back home. The people watching was great as well, as it's in a busy side street with a lot of small shops. We were stuffed after our food, and it was only 400 pesos. A steal of a deal, and gory damn good (see what I did there?)! We will be back, and be ready to stuff our faces with delicious and gluten friendly food. 10/10, comería...
Read moreTRASH!!! FYI PLEASE CHECK YOUR BILL BEFORE PAYING HE INCLUDES HIS TIP WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE. I came here because of the reviews which now I'm feeling were fake. We order margarita w sugar on the rim he brought them w salt and never offered to exchange them out even after acknowledging the waiter had messed up our drink order. But honestly they were awful super watered down. The food was not authentic Mexican its tasted like a lower budge casa ole. We did steak tacos which had no onion, or cilantro. We were told it was in the salsa. I should of know then something wasn't right. The rice and beans were the only edible thing on our table. I order enchiladas w moles and it came with Hersey syrup drizzled on top and when I asked him why was it so sweet he shrubbed his shoulders. It was no way to eat that . The chicken enchiladas tasted like week old chicken and I brought this to his attention he still left it on my bill and told me it wasn't his problem. Then handed me a bill w his tip included but didn't say anything when I asked him to break down the bill twice and then pulling out my calculator I notice my bill was over and then he told me his tip was included. Not cool, do yourself a favor stay away unless you want bland tasteless food or sugar chicken and extra charges w/o your...
Read moreWe were staying one block from this little awesome restaurant when you can sit on the street (pedestrian) and watch the tourists and locals with their families walking by. Second night we went again and were met by BART. the most friendliest person ever. He made us feel extra special and our food was fantastic. Next night we decided to go back and see Bart and since we had a big lunch we only wanted a beer and hamburger which was made fresh. He welcomed us like long lost family. Hamburger inexpensive and cooked to perfection. We were in Cancun for 14 nights and ate there 10 of those nights. Could not resist going back for great food and of course Bart our special guy. See you in a few months Bart and I guarantee he will remember us. Menu has a great selection and beer is 2 for 1. What else could you ask for. Eric is his side kick and even though a bit shy he's picking up some of...
