I have never written a negative review because I tend to give so much grace but with the experience we just had as family I feel the need to. We are owners at the Westin Lagunamar and our concierge recommended La Pizarra as great place. My wife, children(3yrs & 9yrs) and myself were greeted at the door by an older gentleman whom we took to be either an owner or partner.
We sat outside and at the time there were only three tables occupied inclusive of ourselves.
We ordered the pizza for the kids as the specialized in a unique make your own pizza experience for the kids and two pastas.
1st Moment: My daughter spilled her drink reaching for appetizer. The manager on duty noticing walked by us continued arranging the table of the previous party. Not until we literally had to ask for some assistance that he stopped what he was doing to help us cleaning the table.
2nd Moment: It the waiter more than 15mins to bring out the “make your own” pizza for the kids, you would think they would prioritize the kids. A few minutes later my wife and I’s food is coming out. Mind you the kids uncooked pizza is sitting on the table. My 3yr old daughter was very hungry so she ate with my wife, by the time her pizza finally came out she no longer wanted it.
3rd Moment: When our food came out by a different server than ours, I kindly requested Parmesan cheese, he acknowledged it and then I saw him do nothing but continue to attend to his tables. More than 5mins has passed since I’ve seen our waiter. The other waiter never brought it or made our server aware.
4th Moment: Our server was so busy attending to the Owner/partner who I mentioned initially he never once acknowledged our table.
5th Moment: I finally flagged our server down and asked for two glasses of water as the kids were thirsty. ~5mins went by no water, but I’m noticing that he’s attending replacing water, wine bottles and even the same Parmesan cheese I had to request had all been brought to the table where the owner is. I’m all for prioritizing but don’t discount your paying customers, we work hard. There was a manager(the same one we had to ask to help us earlier) that walked by I asked him please can we have water for the kids. He acknowledged, went inside and continued business as usual, no water. No the same guy I had asked for Parmesan cheese and said okay, he came outside and I asked him please can we have two waters for the kids, he acknowledged and went inside and continued as if I didn’t ask him anything the same way he did when I asked him earlier. Now out server who I had initially asked for water had brought a glass of water to table where the owner was and came over to us to clear our plates still no water. I a span of about 20mins I have requested two cups of water not for myself but for my kids about 6 times so I am becoming frustrated. It is not busy at all, our table, another family and the table with the owner and his two guests. What I did not like was that he could see how frustrated I was becoming and not once did he offer to get up and help us after greeting us with such enthusiasm at the door initially. He sat there like nothing was going on.
My wife brought to my attention that she thinks race may have been a factor in the way we were treated today. I’m not sure but just thinking it may have really upsets me. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had. I will never return here again. Any and every opportunity I get to express my terrible experience here I will do just that. Westin and our Westin group will be made aware of this...
Read moreI had their most expensive steak with risotto and sun dried tomatoes which was recommended by the waiter. It was odd that none of the waiters recommended pizza even though the name of the restaurant is literally Pizzarra. Anyway, the risotto was DRENCHING in oil, like someone dipped it in oil and served it. I could only taste the oil; nothing else. The steak was not bad, but because it was served on the same plate as risotto it was drenched in oil too. It was an oily mess. I made a mistake by not telling the waiter about this, I only ate the meat and left the risotto on the plate. I shared my displeasure with the waiter when getting the check, and he literally said nothing, not even I am sorry about this, he just looked confused as if he doesn’t know what to do. He brought the check and they charged full price. I asked the waiter if he thinks they should give a discount because the of the risotto, and he just looked confused again and left. At the end, I was given $7 dollar discount on $50 meal. It wasn’t about the money at the end, but the level of service and willingness to accommodate if the person didn’t enjoy the food. And of course; the food - an italian grandma somewhere would roll over in her grave after tasting that risotto… Hope this review will help the management to reflect on the quality of food and service provided. I do not recommend this restaurant. If you’re in La Isla, go to Sonora Prime - it’s an excellent restaurant with great food and impeccable service. From now on, i will only eat there if...
Read moreWe had an incredible dining experience at La Pizzarra in Plaza La Isla! I ordered a glass of house Merlot and Justin had the Aperol Spritz—both were excellent. We started with the Di Filetto Tartufo, which was absolutely fire—the filet was incredibly fresh and tender, and the truffle oil and parmesan added the perfect touch of richness.
For our mains, I had the Fettuccine Pratto, which was rich, flavorful, and loaded with perfectly cooked shrimp. Justin chose the homemade Ravioli Colosseo, which he loved and said he’d absolutely order again.
Our server, Axel, was phenomenal—warm, attentive, and made us laugh in the best way. He made our evening feel extra special. He even prepared our Carajillo tableside, which was a wonderful touch, and served us a classic Tiramisu for dessert.
When Axel heard I was a mother, he brought me a pink rose for Mother’s Day—and when Justin mentioned my birthday had just passed, he surprised me with a warm brownie, gelato, and a sparkling candle. It was such a thoughtful and joyful moment!
We left with full bellies, sugar highs, and big smiles. This place is a 10/10—highly recommend both the food and the service. Be sure to...
