I came here with my family looking for a quick bite to eat and entered the establishment, we sat down at a table for 6 and were greeted by one of the waiters, we received our menus, checked out the selction of food and yes it was a bit on the pricey side for street food but we thought oh hell, its the hotel zone, of course its going to be expensive, but the food will be good surely!
WRONG.
The food did come out rather fast I will say, but we were quickly disappointed with the portions and then even more disappointed by the taste. Take into consideration we are locals of Mexico and know what real México food should taste like and what the portion sizes should be.
Besides the food being bland, they really skimp out on the meat, I ordered a gringa de arrachera which contained hardly any cheese or meat.
The tacos were the same, expensive, no meat and bland. The nachos were a good portion but tasted very bland. The drinks were ok.
When I called over one of the people that worked there, he didnt even want to tend to me, I could see it in his face and body language that he was annoyed, I had to insist for him to come over. When he finally did drag himself over and I pointed out to him the food had hardly any meat, he only proceeded to give me some bs excuse about the food "having a portion of meat"
He then walked off with his sour attitude without offering any solution. Honestly my rating would have been higher but his sour attitude just added to the bad experience we were already having. I never leave these kinds of reviews but this establishment has poor tasting food, its expensive and terrible customer attention.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL. THERE ARE WAYYY BETTER TASTING FOOD SPOTS FOR LESS WITH BETTER QUALITY AND ATTENTION IN CANCUN.
We eventually finished eating, we payed without a tip and explainED to the waiter why.
We left with the sour attitude man standing outside uncaring for the...
Read moreFinally have the chance to do a review on this place now that i am back in the states. This place is truly a godsend to this whole Hotel Area place. Anyone that hears the name Chachalacos will begin smiling, all hotel concierge’s including. It is inexpensive, it’s Mexican street food that is really great, atmosphere and location is awesome ( gets great amount of shade and breeze in the outside seating), it is like the only place in this area were prices are reasonable and people will not try to scam you for more money. The waiters are awesome, If you are on vacation any trying to save money while eating great Mexican food this place is for you, no one in this area (at least in my experience comes close, for this type of food Chachalacos is number 1). Try their sauces, they are awesome except the two spiciest ones. Stay away from places like Cambalaches unless you are prepared to spend couples of hundreds dollars on the steaks you would spend no more then $20 in US, that place is such a scam and most similar type places are exactly like it, trying to scam more money out of you. O yeah if you do the dolphin thing do not pay more then a hundred for photos US, bargain and they will bring the price down. Isla Mujeres trip is a scam at its finest, don’t buy anything as you get off the boat, prices are triple in that area, they’re just waiting for dumb, drunk tourists to make bad decisions. Do not buy cohibas from small stores or street vendors, they are fake, there’s some reputable stores next to Soriana, 20 minutes walk from Westin resort they will have the real thing. So yea, in light of all this Chachalacos was really great, I truly enjoyed having lunches and dinners there...
Read moreThe most DISAPPOINTING taco place with 4.7⭐️ in CANCUN. as you can see the guac is miniature, not even larger than a chip, however in the image it IS larger than the chip. It was probably 0.25-0.15C of FLAVOURLESS guacamole. I added my own onions, cilantro & lime juice to make it taste good, before that it was the most mid thing I’ve ever tasted from an actual Mexican restaurant. The chips were obviously misleading with their pictures, having a TINY amount with atleast half burnt chips all stuck together that were dry and genuinely not enjoyable tortilla chips, and I love tortilla chips. the singular chorizo taco tasted fine with a decent amount of meat but it’s hard to mess up pre seasoned sausage, it was already cool by the time it got here and we are a 5 minute walk away.. and I also believe the tortillas are a mix, and not pure corn as they are awfully dry. the pastor taco as you can see shows 3 tacos in the image, with a slice of pineapple on top (the literal ONLY thing that makes it pastor) and we didn’t get ANY pineapple and we got 1 taco. I can’t even leave a review on Uber so this is going up here! Sad to say, I’m GRATEFUL I only spent $300MXN instead of much more I would’ve spent had I come in to the restaurant as I had planned in my itinerary for weeks. I’ve had better Mexican Food in CANADA. Just look at the images and tell me this isn’t false...
