Mirador Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Cancún

We had booked table for dinner on 14 Jan 2024. We reached and we kind of liked the environment in starting. By looking at the menu I was bit disappointed to see very few options. Tomato soup was worst I ever had. It took almost 40 mins to get our food. We were told to try salad options by that time but because we are vegetarian so we hardly had anything to take from salad because almost everything had some meat in it. The waiter didn't tell us that 10:30pm is the last order. Because he took around 40 mins to bring out first order, and by the time we tasted them it was past 10:30 and we couldn't try more dishes. On all of their food items I was getting the same taste we used to get in the packaged/bottles tomato puree. So no fresh tomato are being used here for cooking. I didn't like following: No warm welcome at the reception. Bad or average food Service is the worst, somebody will take orders and forget you. Finally he will dump the food on table and will never get back check on you. I asked for room temperature drinking water, 2 times. I didn't get the water but apologies. The first day at this resort I had made a reservation at this restaurant. Every one dressed nicely with collared shirts and elegant dresses while the restaurant itself was nicely furnished and designed, which made this place feel like a fine dining restaurant. However after our experience, I can confirm that this is definitely not a fine dining experience. Being a person that has eaten at an multitude of fine dining and Michelin restaurants from across the globe, I was extremely disappointed. The pizza looked liked it was once frozen, the pasta its self was cooked well however the bolongese sauce was just dreadful to eat and look at, while the steak looked like it was boiled in water. The lamb chops looked over cooked and was surprisingly the best dish of the day even though it was hard for us to swallow. We could not finish much of our food and just left as soon as possible. Had high expectation since the resort staff all said the food was amazing here, and reviews were generally positive. I honestly struggle to remember a time where I’ve had worse Italian food.

Crab croquettes - hard and doughy, and by the looks of it they’d used chopped up processed seafood sticks for the filling. Carbonara - was basically linguine in what tasted like Campbell’s condensed chicken soup. Couldn’t detect the merest whiff of parmasan or black pepper. Veggie ravioli, pasta was so thick and filling so dense, they were like hard chewy little balls. I tried one and had to spit it out, couldn’t even eat it.

Salad bar was fine, nice fresh breads and flavoured olive oils. Asked for balsamic and they spent 20 mins looking and came back to say they don’t have any today.
