Mr. Papa's — Restaurant in Cancún

This restaurant is horrible. They are extremely bias against Americans. They tried to take advantage of us because we were not from Mexico. They tried to overpriced us for 4 drinks and water. The staff offered me and my friends free tequila shots and then added it to our bill. We disputed the charge and they claim we had to pay for the shots we didn't ask for or else. Not only were they trying to get extra money from us but he wrote in the price for the 4 tequila shots.The staff memberwho offered us the free shots admitted he told us he would pay and the waiter still stated we had to pay for it.We asked for a reprint of the check with the correct total and we were told he couldn't reprint the bill. Once we paid for the amount we agreed to pay, Security was called and the waiter tried to state we didn't pay him enough and hid part of the money that was paid to him and presented a reprinted bill. Please let them know this is not okay by not going to this restaurant. When visiting another country I deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. At Mr. PAPAS I was not. The waiter said the margaritas were two for one but when we tried to order it was only if you ordered two first and the second ones would be free! It was an early lunch we didn’t want two each. So the waiter made a big deal of how he would speak to the manager and he said we could have two for one if we also ordered a soft drink. Very odd. We just ordered beers instead and tacos. Nice food, fresh, tasty. Our waiter was VERY attentive throughout and asked if his service was good before going off to get a colleague with the card machine so we could pay. He hovered over as my husband added a 10% tip. He was obviously not very happy with that and didn’t speak to us again, didn’t say goodbye, totally ignored us very hostile. You can’t provide a service based on the fact you want a big tip. If waiting staff want more then add it to the bill or don’t provide 10% as an option on the card machine. Where we come from 15% is for a really nice restaurant not a quick lunch stop. The food was nice but the nonsense with the margaritas and the tipping means I wouldn’t go back or recommend. You should provide good service because you take pride...

This place overcharged by a lot. They are also racist. I advise that if you are black you avoid. They will lie, cheat and steal and threaten to call the police. Absolutely awful service.

It all started when the waiter promised us free shots. We were ready for a good night and he wanted us to get excited and have a good night. Suddenly, a waiter came up and told us they couldn’t accept card. Normally, not a problem; however, all the yams close very early so we had to go all the way back to the hotel to get cash. Annoying but fine. THEN we get the bill, and all of a sudden, we get charged for the shots. We kindly explained that the waiter compt’ed them and all he’ll broke loose. It was awhile fight.
