Zen — Restaurant in Cancún

If you're going to eat at this restaurant, make sure you reserve the Hibachi Grill. This way you get in on time. While the food was great, the hospitality was not so great. I went in to put our name on the waiting list and was given a buzzer and was told we had several families ahead of us. What was interesting is that, I didn't see many families around when I put our name on the waiting list. There were more tables than families waiting and the restaurant had just opened. There was an empty table even behind my family who had already been seated.

And so, about an hour later and several families, my wife went up to check on our wait. She was told we had three families ahead of us and we'd be next. About another hour later, five families went ahead of us. And when I went back up to check on things, they said we had one more family. After I told them I'd write a review, then all of a sudden a table was ready.

Another thing was this we, had a party of 12 and wanted to be seated together all at the same table. We were told they don't seat large parties together and that they'd have to split us up. However, an hour into our dinner, we saw them setting up and seating a family about the same size as ours. This was so disappointing because I felt we were robbed of a moment to share together over dinner, as this other family had been given that opportunity.

I've been to other hard rock establishments and been impressed but was very disappointed by Hard Rock Cancun. My friends and I came down to celebrate my birthday and we ate at Zen, the hibachi concept in the hotel. I've had hibachi numerous times and never had an issue since it usually doesn't have nuts but I told the staff I was allergic to nuts and they even wrote a note and showed it to the chef. Despite this, they served me multiple dishes with nuts. I'm usually not the most sensitive but I was violently throwing up and had hives all...

Of all the restaurants at the Hard Rock, this one had the best food and service! Rich was fantastic, gave great recommendations and it was fast.

Also was so kind in accommodating my kids who are very picky.
