DO NOT GO IF YOU ARE BLACK. My wife (being black) and I attempted to dine here and the manager immediately told us they were full. A family of 4 (who were all white) walk up right after us and the manager immediately seats them. We question the manager about this and he just smiles and shrugs his shoulders.
We had been treated with extreme kindness and have been welcome everywhere else in Cancun that we had visited until Tacos y Tequila. It is sad that a racist environment exists among one minority group to another, but here we are as well intentioned and wealthy customers turned away because of racism. I feel no one, no matter what race should ever visit this establishment.
Update: They then reply to this review saying it must have been a next store restaurant or a misunderstanding, which is completely untrue. We did a GPS that walked us right to your location. The only restaurant next store is Hooters. Confusing the two is impossible.
My wife left in tears and me in anger and the manager did not care. We immediately left Tacos Y Tequila after our scarring experience and went to Taquiera Los Chachalacos (which is a one minute walk away) and were not only seated right away, but with great respect and great service.
They say that they have never had a review like this before, but look closely at the reviews below. We are one of SEVERAL reviews implying that Tacos Y Tequila has treated even their own fellow Mexicans with this same type of behavior. It is obvious that they give special treatment to those who they think are worth more money, not for equality. Maybe we should have worn more expensive clothes and jewelry?
For the sake of your own business and its reputation, Taco Y Tequila please change your attitude towards every customer and treat them all with EQUAL RESPECT. And no, you do not and will never get the privilege of serving my wife and I, but I hope that you will do better towards others...
Read moreThe food here was unbelievable. We have been to the location in the Isla mall, but this time we went to the Party Zone location which just opened in March of '24 as it was closer to where we were staying. The restaurant itself is beautifully authentically adorned, yet very casual, right next to Hooters in the party area. A great place to eat before hitting the bars! I have to say the menu is absolutely awesome, theres a variety of authentic Mexican dishes, along with a variety of tacos from pibil, fish, shrimp, chicken etc. We ordered some fried cheese appetizers, plus the melted cheese with meat, and guacamole. It was fresh and delicious. We then went for pibil and chicken tacos, one guest ordered fish tacos, and I ordered the rollos de arrachera steak (tender skirt skate rolled with fried cheese), and it was absolutely delicious and tasty. The margaritas are frosty, big sized, and delicious, and the selection of tequilas is unmatched in the party zone. This place exceeded our expectations. What was very unique was that the the prices are much more than reasonable than most restaurants of its quality, its one of the few places we've been to in Cancun that provides high quality and value to match! The service was outstanding and courteous and prompt. Highly recommended, Taco y Tequila in the party zone!!! 5...
Read moreWe were looking for a taco place and I loved the fact that they had a taco sampler platter. When we got there, we were given hand sanitizer, had our temps taken, and given a reusable menu. It surprised me that they gave us these. Even tiny hole in the wall taco shops weren't doing this! They were seating everyone on one side of the restaurant, which was fine since there weren't many tables, but the restaurant started to get packed- no social distancing there. Also, I noticed they were allowing customers in without masks. Not great when everyone who walks in walks right by the little old lady making handmade tortillas.. the food.. chips were thick, hard, and tasted burned. The sandia margarita was great. Flour tortillas were thin and hard, not flavorful. Corn tortillas were better, but the meats were either too "char" grilled, salty, or flavorless. We shared a sampler platter and didn't even finish. Just left with a stomach ache 🥺 at the end, they gave us a tablet to take a survey on... which I'm sure was passed along to many people...this place was definitely not following covid sanitation guidelines. And didn't have good food to boot. save your money and go down the...
