El Chahuistle — Restaurant in Guanajuato

Walking around looking someone local food found this charming restaurant. The patio and first floor were full so we went to the cutest second floor seating area. I felt I was in like and old Spanish style house, so cute the restaurant. My husband and I we kinda hungry so we order tacos dorados for appetizer and a steak with shrimp molcajate. The waiter was absolutely amazing, such an great gentleman, with a smile and pleasure he was explaining the menu and even thought he was a little old he didn’t mind to go up and down the stairs. We got some bread with a some cheese spread and a side of spicy sauce that were so good, definitely helped with the hungry we were. Food came very quick and let me tell you absolutely delicious. Only I didn’t give 5 stars was because of the AC, it was a little hot and they don’t have AC and the fans they have were not working so if you suffer of hotness the second floor is not for you. My favorite place to have breakfast/lunch in Guanajuato. About 5 min walk from the main square. The restaurant has all your needs, but most importantly a very delicious and traditional Coffee. Yes, this is not a regular coffee, this Cafe de Olla. The food is good, and the prices are very good. They have a special for less then 100 pesos (4.25 dollars) that includes fresh Juice, fruit with Granola, a meal of your choice, Coffee, cookies and Bolillo. The service was great they check on you and are willing to accommodate your meal how you like it.

For some reason Airbnb will recommend other places to eat in that is local and has classic food, but I when to those places ( with out mentioning them here) and they are more expensive, not that great at costumer service and they don't take Credit/ debit cards.

So please, come here, give them a try and I promise you...

August 2021 Third time I've been here for breakfast. Delicious breakfast! An incredible price of just $95 for everything! Friendly staff

EDIT....April 2023. I've just been reading the latest comments. So many clueless people! Ja ja ja. I came here to see what inflation had done to the breakfast price... from 95 to 120... not bad all things considered.

The coffee...is cafe de olla...made with cinnamon and a spicy sugar! Educate yourselves!
