Tierrasal - Leña y Fuego — Restaurant in Isla Holbox

I honestly don’t understand the hype around this place. The service was fine,nothing remarkable. but the food was shockingly mediocre. We started with the fried eggplant (which the server strongly recommended), and it was completely bland, bordering on pointless. My main, the so-called “Fuego” pistachio fish, had zero trace of pistachio flavour: just a dull, forgettable dish that could’ve been from any random café. The Carbonara? Equally disappointing : flat, flavorless, and way below the standard you’d expect given the prices.

For anyone visiting from Europe or the US. which, judging by the menu and price point, seems to be their main target audience: this place will most likely leave you unimpressed. t’s the kind of restaurant that looks good on Instagram but fails completely where it matters: on the plate.

The only redeeming qualities? The vibe is pleasant enough, and the music is good. But beyond that, it’s all smoke...

A rather pleasant place for dinner. I'll highlight the positives first and then explain the areas for improvement. We ordered a creamy cauliflower risotto, which was phenomenal, and a Caesar salad with grilled lettuce worthy of any internationally renowned restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed, accompanied by beach music that enhances the experience. On the other hand, the service was slow at times, and I felt they weren't attentive to whether we needed anything else to drink. The fettuccine with shrimp was good, that's all. But what I don't recommend is the Arrachera steak with blue cheese. The sauce seemed very basic, like something out of a bottle. The biggest point for improvement was the meat, as it was very stringy and difficult to cut and chew. I think they should better supervise this cut with their suppliers. We came here for breakfast- Fantastic!!! I can't say enough good things. I got the grilled hummus toast with a poached egg and my boyfriend got the chorizo and egg burrito. Our server Yareli was so friendly and attentive, the food came out quickly and was DELICIOUS, the pricing just crazy reasonable for the fresh diverse ingredients. It is also a hot day today and even though it is a (beautiful) open air restaurant, the fans and shade kept us plenty cool enough.
