I meant to go to another restaurant on the opposite corner but mistakenly walked into this one. I’ve passed it several times throughout my trip and always saw many people inside as it has a bright and colorful attraction to it. I realized my mistake as I sat down and saw the menu name but figured it would be fine and didn’t want to walk out.
I ordered a passion fruit mojito to start. It was just ok. Wasn’t as refreshing or tasty as other ones I’ve had on the trip. I then ordered the pork fajitas which I thought would be amazing as they served it sizzling hot (I barely waited ten minutes though). It came with a small bowl of rice, refried beans, and the tortillas. They served it with 3 different sauces. I only tried two of the sauces which were good. When I picked up the tortilla, it wasn’t even warm. It was bland and felt like they just took it out of a bag. The pork was also bland and had no real seasoning to it. The rice, also bland. The refried beans did taste decent. I ate the meal bc I was pretty hungry after a long day. The staff was fine and did their best. But the food just wasn’t that memorable. Hopefully they read some of the reviews to try to help improve quality...
Read moreThe place is something different that screams Mexico with all the colors outside and inside of the place. The dog’s name is “Mambo” and is very cute, since the outfits changes from time to time. 👌🏻 The situation comes when you try to order the service is not very organized, there is a poster that states “Cash Only” but you can pay with card but with a 5% fee and needs to be more than 3-4 people. There is a promo of “Fried Fish 2x1” but is not the one listed on the menu is a “off the menu” fish that can go all the way to a 100 dollars due to the weight and nobody tells you until the bill comes. Be aware that is not that the food is not good is the “catch” of having a fish you didn’t order.
Be careful and double check, the agua Fresca...
Read moreOur experience at Casa Alebrije was deeply disappointing. The octopus dish was not fresh and was served undercooked, making it inedible (taken out from the bill). The shrimp nachos lacked flavor, and the shrimp themselves didn’t seem fresh. We specifically asked for mole at the entrance and were told it was available, but once seated, our server had no knowledge of it. The manager later informed us that only tacos with mole were available, which we also found subpar.
Regrettably, this was the worst dining experience we’ve had—not just in Holbox, but also compared to Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Mérida, and Temozon. This was especially disappointing given the many excellent eateries on the island.
Highly not...
