El Comedor — Restaurant in Jalisco

Horrible place. I was walking by and heard folks inside so I assumed it might be a good option for a simple breakfast. That was a mistake. First, there seemed to be only one waitress working the whole room. That means that it took her a little while to get over to me — not the best, but fine — and she came without a menu and with an air of efficiency. I liked that, the efficiency part. She took my order for Huevos Divorciados and left. She promptly returned with the fresh fruit plate and a sparkling water I ordered as accompaniments.

But then, I proceeded to wait like 30 minutes for two eggs in sauce, which is what huevos divorciados are…and everyone was waiting like this. Maybe there was only one cook, as well.

And, then, somehow, with all of the waiting, my eggs were still slightly underdone (the egg whites weren’t even set) and flavorless. That last part struck me as crazy. There’s just too much good food in Guadalajara to suffer through bad eggs. I discovered after ordering that the place was attached to a hotel; my guess is that they get all of their business from their guests. Because it certainly can’t be from the experience.
