Yikes. Save your time, money, and dignity and eat elsewhere. My partner and I are in Guadalajara for the weekend. We arrived here. They said it would be a 40 minute wait. We waited 40 minutes. Then my partner sent me up to ask about the wait (I’m white, he’s Latino). They then told me that they had no idea how long the wait would be. I thought nothing of the wait, but at a certain point my partner thought that we would not get into the restaurant. There were a series of affluent people arriving and getting seated right away. If they were full and could not accommodate us without a reservation, no worries, just communicate that when we arrive. To make us wait for 40 minutes and then suddenly share that they had no idea how long it would be? That is terrible customer service. My partner called it spot on though. He shared that he’s seen other restaurants discriminate. He intentionally sent me up and thought that I would get better service. Yikes. Yikes. Yikes. I have never been treated this way at a restaurant (even at really expensive or exclusive restaurants). A hostess generally under promises and over delivers. This was some weird, you will not get in because you don’t know someone or aren’t good enough sort of vibes. I say this with immense privilege as a young, affluent,...
Read moreThis is a real Argentinian place, with decent prices, amazing ambiance, and great quality of meat! Both my boyfriend and I love steak and ended up here on a Saturday, and this place did not disappoint. From the service to the quality of the food, it was an amazing dining experience. If you like a good steak/asado, come and try it out. Service was super attentive. We got chorizo and some cheese bread to start (real good taste) Then, we shared an entraña and matambrito. The quality of the meat was amazing, tender with the right flavor, and perfectly cooked. Matambrito was good, too, but go for the steak. We also had some papas al romero and some kind of mashed vegetable. all very yummy. For dessert, we tried the dulce de leche crepe. It was good but the croe was kind of hard, not soft. If you're in town, this place...
Read moreGreat steak place, second time here and was very impressed yet again. Everything we tried was cooked perfectly, from the appetizers to the steaks. La matera has a nice wine selection from all over the world, obviously focusing a bit more on wines from Argentina but many get good options are available as well. The main attraction are the steaks, they offer several cuts, big and small. Whatever you prefer, I’m sure you’ll find something to your tasting. You can always ask the waiter and they will offer up some recommendations, along with recommend cooking temperatures. The place is quite nice, definitely would recommend for a night out with a nice dinner, or getting a group of...
