If you are ever in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and you love a well curated, fresh, innovative, comfortable and elevated dining experience, I highly recommend you allow Mar y Arena to cater to you.
The menu is well constructed and translated into English (see attached pictures and for price references the exchange rate at the time of this post is 20 Mexican pesos to 1 USD).
It is a family run business, headed up by chef Aldo Garcia. It is a meticulously run and managed gem with exquisite attention to detail. The food is extremely fresh, innovative and delicious.
They have an amazing mixologist on staff as well.
They are open daily from 2-10 PM, except for Tuesday. The kitchen closes at 9:30 PM.
I had the octopus guacamole, shrimp aguachiles and two exquisite beverages (the Porn Star and Vallarta Swizzle) along with some sparkling mineral water.
My total was $53 ($41 without tip). Without the specialty beverages the total would have been about $29 - totally worth every peso!
I later returned with 7 friends and we all ate and drank our fill to the tune of only $200!
Carlos, the waiter, speaks English so don’t be afraid to have one of the best dining experiences...
Read moreHad a wonderful dinner at Mar y Arena tonight. I loved the tuna tiradito with the crispy onions, and their signature shrimp aguachile with passion fruit was tasty, unique, and a generous portion. The corn ribs, were also delicious. Their focus is on raw seafood, and both of the dishes above were raw, though they do have some cooked options if that's not your thing. We also noticed the menu mentions several items as spicy, although our server was able to guide us towards the less spicy options. Speaking of which, our server, Emily, was fantastic. We also had two cocktails, both wonderful. Two cocktails and the food above was only about $1000 pesos after tip, or about $50 USD at current exchange rates - a great price for some quality seafood and...

The staff was very nice and helpful. The menu has a variety of different things. For the appetizers we took the octopus guacamole with home made tortillas that was wow! My wife loves ceviche, she took the mango ceviche that was incredible. And I told the fish tacos that we're very tasty. And the dessert was WOW. Everything was perfect even the price was incredibly reasonable for the quality of food they serveWill return for sure to try out different things on...
