My experience at El Memin starts with that there is no host-ess. Just take a table. I like that - sit where you want. Firstly, I had the Molcajete Mixto. It was delicious and authentic. The service? That was a different story. Where was the floor manager? There were more employees than customers yet the numerous social gatherings between employees was noxious. A senior, sharing table compliments with staff on the restaurant floor? Appalling I’m sure for the owner of the establishment. But in the midst of it all none of the tables have service… how is the food, how is your drink, can I get you anything? Nothing, not even your order is coming soon. This is poor training for a staff immediately adjacent to the the cruise ship port. Throughout my experience there was one employee who only focused on his work. He was distanced from the others. I had to ask him him name because after 40 years of owning businesses I recognized an individual of strong work ethic. His name was Victor Abel. He cleaned tables but made his job fun by carrying a stack of menus on his head - not for attention but for efficiency. People like Victor can compensate for many inadequacies in an establishment. I recommend this restaurant but I also suggest to hold the management and servers accountable to deliver...
Read moreAs we walked into the restaurant, the waitress just stood there and muttered a greeting, I think. She didn’t show us to a table so we just walked up to one. Then after sitting for a while we finally got the menus. Then we sat for another few minutes and the waitress came and dropped off something at our table and didn’t even stop to ask us if we wanted to order. Then after waiting for 10 minutes more, I flagged someone down who took our drinks order and again walked away before we could order food. After waiting another 5 minutes we just decided to leave. There is plenty of staff, the place is empty right now at 12:44pm so I really don’t understand the problem. The staff just seem busy talking to each other. I worked as a waitress as a student and lesson 101 is you are always looking around to ensure that guests don’t have to look for you. 🤨 obviously skipped...
Read moreWe were expecting something very different when we chose this restaurant and when we looked at the menu, considered going elsewhere. However we chose to stay and make the best of it - ordering 2 appetizers and 3 entrees (plus margaritas). How pleasantly surprised we all were with the flavorful sauces used on the dishes! “Guardos Shrimp”, “Shrimp in cream sauce and mushrooms”, and bacon-wrapped shrimp all were delicious. The shrimp empanadas were filled with goodness (though needed the addition of hot sauce) and the shrimp tacos were also quite scrumptious. We sat outside and had a nice view (albeit right along a busy street) and the servers were very nice and attentive. All food and drink plus tip came to...
