Really great experience! Great service, really nice atmosphere. Great for covid-19, plenty of space and safety precautions. Margaritas, borth mango and normal were delicious, as was the bloody maria. Eggplant with honey was good, gazpacho was delicious, mussels were fine. Seafood paella was excellent, with shrimp, fish, mussels, and clams (normally comes with squid but we don't eat them). Dessert of queen?(fruit from ixtluacan) was interesting.

Charming little courtyard restaurant. Great food. Great service. Tucked into a sidestreet, a couple of blocks from the Ajijic plaza, Mesón Don Quijote is one of those unassuming little restaurants you'll walk past a dozen times without noticing. The restaurant itself is small and intimate, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and excellent service. The food is aoutstanding, with the Paella being the signature dish. Highly recommended...

Lunch with a Friday lunch group 6 people. Restaurant opens at 1 PM. I had the seafood patella. A margarita and a glass of Cabernet. Staff is lite, owner and 1 server. We were the only group in the restaurant while we were there. The food was good. Beautiful garden. This restaurant is only open 3 days a week. Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. Spanish food. Bottom line, one of the few if any other Spanish Restaurants in Lakeside.

We stayed here for 8 consecutive nights, and Paola and her staff are amazing. Because this is a Meson (restaurant/bar/hotel) there are only a few rooms, but that's great because we were treated like family! The staff went above and beyond, kept the room very clean, and their authentic Spanish cuisine is amazing and "home cooked"/made fresh to order and reasonably priced (you have to try the paella and basa (bass))! It's right in the heart of downtown which is great for shopping and restaurants, there is so much within walking distance, including the town square and Lake Chapala. Can be a little noisy on the weekends and the beds are not crazy soft (most in Mexico aren't... we Americanos are spoiled with soft beds), but the warm treatment we received from everyone exceeded our expectations... we really felt like familia!. And they speak English as well as I do! We would go back and stay here again anytime! Muchas Gracias to Paola and her...

Meson Don Quixote is a block from the Plaza - about 3 blocks from the Malecon and the Lake Chapala Society where the ex-pats hang out doing all sorts of things. Meson Don Quixote was clean and the breakfasts were wonderful. Fresh fruit, eggs prepared as you like, meat if you want it as well. I discovered tortilla de espanola and have a new favorite egg dish. Paola is the owner/manager and is fluent in English as well as Spanish. Adrianna was friendly and helpful as well. Both were extremely competent and welcoming. Any down side? The beds were hard (by USA standards) and that seems to be a Mexico thing. This is a homey, personable specialty inn with a huge courtyard filled with trees and plants -- not a corporate hotel in a big city. Adjust your expectations accordingly and you'll be very happy. Next time we're here, I hope they have a room open....
