Great new Hotel Zone addition to the PV restaurant scene! Upscale atmosphere, excellent service and new and tasty food choices! We had some of the best guacamole we've found in Puerto Vallarta and then enjoyed delicious wood-fired entrees Rancho salad with chicken, Barbecue Ribs and Red Snapper. All were cooked perfectly and delicious. Malpaso has great cocktails wine. We liked our dinners so much we decided to share the Pancetta which is a creamy gelatin topped with dried honeycomb which was delicious. At a high level, quite a tasty and memorable meal. The food, design, and cocktails were all innovative and refreshing. The food highlights were the ceviche, panela asada, and the cheesecake. The cocktails were also tasty. Everything else was pretty good, except for a few criticisms. Namely, the complementary “chips” at the start were burned and the (albeit innovative and unique) table lights are easy to accidentally turn off mid-meal. Service was good. This has only been open 2 months and it looks extremely promising, but just has a few bumps. I would bet in a year or two, many of these problems would be fixed. Relatively new spot with a limited but inspiring menu. Unique approach to “chips and salsa” with tostadas from the fire oven, 2 kinds of salsa, lime and salt. Plank fish was sole and perfectly cooked on top of sliced potatoes. Our part enjoyed the ribs, chicken, and both desserts. The vegetarian options on the menu were limited to salad and roasted veggies, but we asked and they made a special veggie option with roasted portobello and mixed veggies and queso which was very good.
