What an incredible taco shop! I love tacos and it was really fun to find Ascencio and Chef Diego's incredible tacos. I've never had tacos like this before and they were very well thought out, beautiful and delicious! To make the experience even better, Chef Diego is passionate about food and beer and provides a wealth of information about the food and beverages offered. He is also a really cool guy. I went twice to Ascencio while I was in Vallarta and loved it both times! The experience was closer to that of the Michelin starred restaurants I've been to than what I would expect from a taco shop. (Curated selections, very well described and explained, presented beautifully, with the best of service) I also had the chance to try all 3 desserts offered and they were very, very good. Cheesecake is my favorite desert, and the Avocado Cheesecake was delicious, but the Mole Chocolate cake was even better! I took advantage of Diego extensive knowledge and well curated beer selection to have 2 truly excellent and memorable beers. Overall, a great experience! We look forward to going back next time we are...
Read moreThe shrimp and tuna tacos here were honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. They’re not your typical tacos, but the flavors are so well balanced and absolutely delicious. They came with four different sauces, my top picks were the chili oil with peanut and pumpkin seeds and the habanero salsa.
The owner was so welcoming, attentive, and clearly passionate about his menu. He also recommended us another local taco vendor, which turned out to be amazing too.
They have a solid variety of top-rated Mexican beers, please do yourself a favour and order the sour beer. The watermelon margarita was super refreshing and paired perfectly with the tacos.
We were only in PV for four nights, but we loved this spot so much we came back a second time. After trying a few of the “top rated” restaurants in PV, most felt a bit too touristy and underwhelming, this place was such a standout. Couldn’t...
Read moreI’ve been around the world (23 countries and counting) in pursuit of the worlds best tacos, donuts, and waterfalls!
And ladies and gentlemen…. THIS IS IT! I will not be surprised in the slightest when this place gets its first Michelin star ⭐️
I’ve been to nearly every Latin country as well as nearly every tourist location in Mexico (only Chepes en Oaxaca left).
Not only are the tacos amazing but everything is amazing! The fruit waters are To die for. The sources are out of this world and could become a house hold name.
The experience is unmatched for such a small restaurant in mexico.
Every touch is considered down to the cleanest and well appointed bathroom I’ve seen outside of a resort in Mexico.
And the cherry on top??
The portions are filling, the prices are fair, and the owner is...
