RESTAURANTE EL JARDIN DE PANCHO VILLA — Restaurant in Jalisco

Arrived at El Jardin Poncho Villa for 2 for 1 margaritas happy hour. Initially service and drinks were good. We then ordered a vodka red bull; our second purchase at their establishment. I was tired and hoping for an energy boost. When we requested the bill we discovered the red bull cost $15 Canadian and the vodka was a double instead of a single and the total cost of the drink was about $40. My friends said we should have checked the menu before we purchase and I completely agree... my mistake. However... that drink cost more than the rest of our order. In fact, the previous day we purchased 2 large rib steaks, a bag of onion rings, garlic/pepper seasoning and a bag of frozen vegetables from the butcher in town for less than the cost of that drink, lol. They didn't mention it might cost a lot or suggest they put double the alcohol in the drink (which may have been fine if that was my order - it wasn't). I was shocked at the cost. Bad faith business practice. The irony is, we had booked a table at Barcelona Tapas up the hill two blocks away. There we had amazing food, great service, an incredible view, and the cost of a red bull was $8 Canadian. Be cautious about El Jardin Poncho Villa. They will exploit you if they can. My wife and i visited here after the art walk to have a drink and cool down from wearing our masks. We sat on the balcony and had a nice view but it is mostly obstructed by the trees out front. The inside of the place is amazing and I am sure that during a normal world it would be great fun! I ordered a beer and my wife had a mojito. While the beer was cold and hard to mess up her mojito was a major disappointment as it was too sweet and didnt seem to have any alcohol, perhaps it was so sweet that it covered up the taste but you usually feel something after a cocktail. In reality I am not giving this rating three stars based on the drinks, it was based on the food and the face coverings worn by the waiters. They only wear a small plastic shield over their mouth which does absolutely nothing to prevent droplets from their mouth spreading through the air. We ordered the queso fundido with mushrooms and chorizo and it came out with hotdog like sausage and no mushrooms. It was terrible and no resemblance to the description listed. Wish I would of read the reviews before coming here rather eat at McDonald's. The waiters service was perfect, The food was eatable but not worth the price plus waiters were demanding tips I believe it's based upon service and food quality service. They over priced the food and charged for the tip. Instead of us giving it out, And I believe that's unacceptable as a waiter. When I asked the manager if it was mandatory and I said well I believe it's less they stated " well if your going to give that tip it's better if you don't leave any tips" I responded well I believe it's the service and the food service. I left the tip as they charged me but I will never go back here and I encourage you NOT TO EITHER!.
