My recent visit to Ferchi's Lobster House left a bitter taste in my mouth, and it had nothing to do with the food or drinks, but everything to do with their misleading coupon policy and abhorrent customer service.
Initially, my friend and I had a pleasant dining experience during our first visit. We enjoyed our meals and drinks, spending well over $100. As we were leaving, the server handed us each a coupon for a free margarita. Delighted by the gesture, we decided to return, eager to enjoy complimentary drinks along with our appetizers and entrees.
However, our excitement quickly turned sour upon presenting the coupons during our second visit. Despite there being no mention of limitations on the coupons themselves, we were informed that only one coupon could be used per table. When we politely questioned this policy, both the server and the manager, Alberto, displayed shocking rudeness and condescension towards us.
Not only were we scolded for not showing the coupons before ordering (despite no indication on the coupons or any suggestion from the staff during our first visit), but we were also met with the incredulous remark, "You're not from here, so I guess you don't understand." Such disdainful treatment is completely uncalled for, especially in an area heavily reliant on tourism like the Malecon in Puerto Vallarta.
Ferchi's Lobster House may pride itself on its food and high prices, but their deplorable customer service and arbitrary coupon policies tarnish any allure they might have. If this is how they choose to treat their patrons, then I have no desire to return, especially when there are countless other exceptional dining options in Puerto Vallarta that value their customers' satisfaction.
My advice to potential diners: beware of Ferchi's Lobster House's deceptive coupon tactics and be prepared to endure disrespectful treatment if you dare to question their...
Read moreThe service was outstanding, absolutely offset the somewhat disappointment with the enchiladas that l ordered. Probably just this item and they were okay, but something l could have easily made at home myself. The black tea was served iced wutht fresh Rosemary which wasn't on the menu as such or explained by my waiter, bity with the health benefits of adding Rosemary to a diet l certainly did not mind. The waiters were incredible, always there and the restaurant was busy because of Sunday brunch and in high season with hotels at capacity. Entire staff was spot-on with service and management should be very proud of all of them. Restrooms available, cash and credit cards, high chairs for the little ones, street parking only, good luck with that especially during high season here. Outdoor dining is on the wide sidewalk with a nice Oceanview, seating inside on two levels. Doubtful it would qualify as handicapped inside, but outside should not be an issue. In Mexico there are very few establishments offering handicapped facilities probably because of the high cost it would put many smaller places out of business if it was mandatory. But there are lots of places to shop and dine everywhere that are ground level or hace someone there to help those with mobility issues, so don't let this stop you from experiencing Mexico because there are a multitude of places you will have no problem accessing. Again, restaurant staff here at lobster house gets an A+. I will definitely be back. They are pet friendly as well as gay friendly and obviously an equal opportunity employer in that department as well. Puerto Vallarta had the largest gay population in Mexico per Capita and recent visitor records stated that up to about 30% of tourists were also classified as LGBTQ, highest in Mexico as well. Check out Ferchi's Lobster House for great seafood and fantastic...
Read moreI wish I would have read the reviews before spending over $100.00 on a dry lobster. We were walking around and came across this restaurant. I haven’t had lobster in a minute and was really craving it. My husband obliged me. What a mistake. We were seating immediately, as the other staff were luring more patrons in. We sat there for more than 15 minutes, after looking around someone asked if any took our order. NO! I said. They said what about your drink order? I said no one has helped us at all. They apologized and sent our server over. He didn’t speak a work of English, I was trying to order, he was trying to say I don’t order from the menu, I ordered from a list. I asked where the list was. He brought it over. I selected a 1.13 lb Lobster because I was going all out. Mistake! The lobster was sliced in half, but I was unable to get any meat from it. In fact, it was so hard and dry, I bent two forks. They offered to bring me another me another one, I told them I don’t need another fork, I need to get the meat out. They gave me a pair of metal tongs, and it was still a challenge. After 30 minutes, I gave up. The people next to us, remarked about me fighting with my food. I said the food won, I’m done. One would think they would have offered something; assistance or even a savings. But nope. On top of that, my hands were a mess trying to get the meat. I literally had to pour water over my hands to clean them.
Long story short, next time, go for street tacos. They experience would be so much more enjoyable and we would have...
