If you are in Puerto Vallarta and want to experience PREMIUM cigars in the BEST environment anywhere, then there is absolutely no question at all that La Casa del Habano is the place to visit. It cannot be stated any better than that. The owner, Gerald (Jerry) has a welcoming personality that you will not only enjoy, but learn from, relax with, and count as being a part of your life's resume entries. Yes, that is saying a lot, but you WILL agree with me after you have visited for yourself. He has smoked nearly 500,000 cigars! He ONLY sells cigars he has tried and is world renowned with his tastes and direct influences on the cigar trade. I would not be lying to say that this was the very best cigar smoking experience of my life. The first cigar (a Cohiba) I inquired about was $130. Yikes! I opted instead (with help from staff) for a $30 Juan Lopez Cuban cigar (ref. photos) that was absolutely wonderful. My initial hesitancy was corrected after smoking it and I bought 2 more to take with me. If you enjoy cigars, THIS experience is the Pinnacle! One thing to note: the address is Calle Aldama, 170, Puerto Vallarta. There is another shop that has heinously used the same name as Jerry's shop! I went there first, and things didn't seem right. I was seeking Jerry's shop and could have been fooled. There are A LOT OF FAKES OUT THERE IN MEXICO AND ALL OVER THE WORLD. Be aware of this and be advised! You are on vacation, so do it right. I am coming back again to Puerto Vallarta soon, and La Casa del Habano is a...
Read moreI realize this review will seem like a puff piece. I might as well say this in the beginning, they really are the best at everything. Best cigars, best coffee, best mojitos, best rum, and the only smoking lounge in Vallarta. Their cigar knowledge is the best. Don’t bother selecting a cigar, just ask Lum or Katia and they will help you find the perfect smoke.
Then bring your cigar to the aircon lounge to have a rum and talk with Gerry or whoever. This lounge is the best place to get restaurant recommendations, learn about travel to Cuba, or hire a body guard (Pedro). There is no limit to the topics of conversation. I learned about travel to Cuba, local Vallarta restaurants, rum, bread making, property values, Mexican taxes, and much more. Be careful, the comfy leather sofas are a trap. You might sit down and never want to get up. Although, if you need motivation to get up from the sofa, just reach for a free chocolate.
This might not be important to everyone but if you’re like me a clean toilet is important, light switch is on the outside. Most of all smoke, drink or get...
Read moreGreat cigars and fantastic service. Truly legit Cuban cigars. I was able to visit the store one day of my trip. However, when I went back on two separate days to purchase more cigars, I found the shop to be closed during posted business hours. I went very much out of my way to go to the shop on both attempts, so I was very disappointed having done so only to come back empty handed. One Friday night, I went at 7PM and found them closed when the posted hours outside the shop said they were open until 9PM. The very next day, which was the day I was leaving Puerto Vallarta, I came back to the shop, again out of my way and at risk of missing my flight, and waited from 11:20 AM to 12:20PM. The posted hours physically posted outside the shop and on the internet said the shop would be open at noon. I guess I'll have to wait until the next time I come back to Puerto Vallarta, whenever that is, to purchase...
