A great dining experience takes three things: quality food and drinks, good service, and a pleasant atmosphere. It's rare for a restaurant to possess all three, even rarer to master them. But this place delivered a perfect 10/10 on all counts.
The owner and sommelier, Enoch, takes immense pride in his restaurant. His passion for wine, food, and guest experience is apparent from the get-go.
Though the place was busy when we arrived, we were immediately greeted and served wine samples and delicious bread with aioli. Both were impeccable.
When a window table became free, Enoch promptly cleaned it and offered us the option to move. We had arrived with our two small children, probably not typical wine bar patrons, but Enoch ensured we received incredible service throughout our visit. He struck the right balance: attentive but not intrusive, friendly, and highly knowledgeable about his wines and their perfect food pairings. We sampled a few wines and ordered the cheese and meat board and the night's pasta special. Everything was delicious.
Enoch shared his journey, from working for many years in Chicago and becoming a sommelier, to realizing his dream of opening this amazing place in Merida. His passion and pride are palpable. My son told him that he should be famous! Undoubtedly, this is a place not to miss...
Read moreAn absolute MUST when visiting Mérida. Do not leave merida without visiting Bacchus Wine Bar and the owner, Enoch!!! To start, the service is amazing. I was in the service industry for 10+ years and Enoch’s service will blow your mind. His passion radiates through him. In my 4 days in merida, I visited twice. Enoch took the time to do a wine tasting of both red and white wines. He broke down their region and flavor profiles. He cared enough to ask where we were visiting from and even made recommendations for places to visit while here. On our second visit, he remembered us right away and told us he wanted to spoil us… and that he did!!! An additional wine tasting as well as he recommending his 3 cheese platter to start.. he knew my friend cannot eat pork so Enoch showed us all his menu options. While classic music played in the background and dim lights loomed over, we enjoyed the amazing salmon spaghetti. The hot honey with almonds is absolutely amazing and I was so happy to find out he sells it individually. This was easily my best meal while I merida. Enoch has made us feel right at home and I cannot wait to come back. If you visit Merida and don’t stop here, even for only a glass of wine, you...
