Monk Sportsbar — Restaurant in Mérida

The Pulled Pork sandwich was borderline spoiled and that’s cause I confirmed with 3 of my other friends that I wasn’t losing my mind or being paranoid with the smell of spoiled food. Four of us were set to a very tiny and wobbly table which caused spills and discomfort during the whole stay (see pic). They took some of our order but did not bring the main plate we all wanted. The waiter was too overwhelmed and forgot to order it twice. With the order forgotten, they had the AUDACITY to still charge us for the food we never received and they were practically obliging us to wait and pay for it… (take heed we were already over an hour in wait time already). We argued over a plate that wasn’t even ordered and WE were blamed for it. DO NOT RECOMMEND! Serving portions are questionable for the price. Space is too small for live music. Instead of it being pleasant, it sounded more like banging pots and pans on...

Absolutely great place.. we were trying to find somewhere to watch an NHL game and Monks went above and beyond. We sat on a red velvet couch with a 70” tv directly in front to enjoy the game WITH SOUND! Ordered the bar food platter which was perfect for two. The food and the alcohol is very reasonably priced. You couldn’t ask for a better service as well. Next time I’m in Merida it will be my go to place to enjoy sports. I also understand they have music on weekends, which I’m very much...

Buen ambiente, buen servicio pasando la puerta (la hostess casi no nos deja pasar por qué según estaba todo reservado). Buena comida, excelente música en vivo.

Edit: como se tomaron la molestia de leer el review asi que aclaro: Yo fui con la idea de ver un juego de futbol por que indicaban que son un sportsbar, al llegar habia como 2 personas adentro del lugar (yo iba con una de ellas) y resulto que pedian reservacion y a ver si me dejaban pasar. No pueden tener su pastel y comerselo al mismo tiempo, o son un sportsbar o tienen evento con banda en vivo en el mismo espacio del bar, porque si van a publicar cosas como "ven a ver el juego" y cuando uno llega te dicen "ay no, es que hoy hay evento y no tienes reservacion" entonces uds. solos se contradicen y es incomodo.

Edit 2: Que pena que en lugar de apreciar lo que uno deja como una opinion honesta sugieran que uno cambio las cosas o miente. Yo fui a ver el juego, cosa que uds anunciaban en facebook. Cuando llegue me dijeron del evento y casi ni me dejan pasar, a pesar de que estaba vacio cuando llegue (mucho antes de su evento). Yo nuca fui a ver el evento, ni sabia que habia. U organizan bien sus cosas o no se quejen...
