I think before you decide to come here, you should read the lowest reviews. It’s a pretty big indicator that there is a service problem when no one responds to the people who had bad experiences here. We are working our way through the Michelin recommendations here and this one should be taken off the list, in my opinion. There is a lack of customer service here that should accompany any Michelin restaurant. The front of house management is off. Our waiter was a creepy man with bad breath who never spoke to us in Spanish in spite of us speaking to him in Spanish. If I am in a Spanish speaking country and I speak to you in Spanish, you should ask me if that is my preferred language. There were constantly waiters lurking around our table, hanging out and talking to each other with their butts turned to our face level. We asked to move because it was so uncomfortable to have them all around us, doing nothing. Our table was in a bad location right in a traffic path, yet there were empty good tables all around us. Then there were 4 people sitting at a table for 10 and 5 people sitting at a table for 8. It was an odd vibe everywhere. There were tourists there in shorts and leggings, several tables full of poorly dressed people, like they had just come from the gym. A dress code would be nice. The old fashioned cocktail that my husband ordered was made incorrectly with sparkling water. The food was ok but nothing special. We ordered the caramelizad onion pasta which was the best thing we ate there, but they brought it with the fried calamari, and I would never serve those two dishes together. They both have sticky, sweet, brown sauce on them, and it ended up tasting like too much sugar all together. The risotto was too thick and gloopy with a sharp cheese flavor, the octopus was burnt and crunchy instead of being thick and tender and juicy, and the flavor of the side of squash puree was too sweet, like baby food. We honestly could not get out of there fast enough. I think they need to care about the customer experience more and get more attuned staff.

I visited Bontanico with high expectations for a quality dining experience, but unfortunately, my visit was far from memorable. To start, the food was nothing special. The dishes we tried didn’t stand out at all and could easily be found in a lower-tier restaurant. Specifically, the steak I ordered was disappointing in both taste and quality. The service was another downside. The first waiter who attended us seemed more focused on pushing the most expensive drinks rather than actually helping us find what we were looking for. The most uncomfortable part was realizing that what we wanted was indeed on the menu, but the waiter’s excuse was simply that he “didn’t understand” our request. As for the value for money, I find this restaurant to be overpriced. Compared to other places of the same level, like Sonora Grill or Fogo de Chão, the food quality falls way below expectations. I’m sure some people might find Bontanico a fascinating experience, but from my perspective, it’s not a place I would return to. This is just my humble opinion, but I hope it helps those looking for a dining experience that truly matches its price.

There are so many Michelin restaurants in Mexico City, and this is one that we decided for the three of us to try. I will say that we had a very pleasant experience and that our waitress was attentive, even if there was a single miscommunication in one of the orders, but that can happen anywhere. The dishes were all beautifully served, the patio is a lush and beautiful open space and the food was very good. That being said none of the dishes stood out as something that I will truly remember or talk about afterwards and yet everything was very tasty so I cannot give this a five star rating. The kampachi was well served, fresh and very nice…the tuna tartar tostadas were the favorite dish with sweet and spicy undertones…the prawn aguachile was very good…the roasted cauliflower and mushroom risotto is tasty but not extraordinary…for dessert the panacotta was light and flavorful but the pumpkin pie with tamarind was average though the prices were quite fair for a high caliber dining establishment…t

I don't write many reviews... But after this experience I have to. My new wife, sister and friend all went out for a wonderful night on the town, starting with an early dinner at Botanico. We heard it was one of the best resto's in CDX. The ambiance was nice and there seemed to be allot of waiters on staff, which you would think would mean great service. We were wrong, the waiters seemed to be just hanging out only providing drink menus for 15-20 mins before asking if we'd like to see the food menu. Once we received the food menu, we ordered the shrimp and several other appetizers to share. Upon receiving the apps we began to eat. The flavors on each dish were a delight on the palette. All was well, up until I bit into a very large PEBBLE!! in the shrimp appetizer!?!?! A peso sized rock, in the shrimp.. After nearly chipping my tooth and gagging on the rock, I hailed one of the 15 servers on staff. To my disbelief they were all huddle around together laughing!?! Once the waitresses came to our table, smiling and saying this has never happened before. I couldn't believe it. My wife and I had just traveled 3,000 miles by car around some of the most remote towns in central Mexico and received the worse service of our trip at Botanico...Incredible... They attempted to make things right by covering some of our drinks and appetizers and hovering over us while eating our meals to make sure we got great service at the end, but it was too little too late. It's unfortunate because the...

No Bueno Botánico, It was our last night in CDMX with friends who we hadn’t seen in 3 years. All 6 of us really appreciate good food, service and wine.

We finally decided on a restaurant to have a dinner on our last evening after reading reviews from Eater who is normally trustworthy.

We chose Botánico and sorry to say it was a big mistake.

Four of us ordered the Blue Shrimp and another person in our group ordered the fish of the day which they said they were out of at 8:30 in the evening.

When the shrimp dishes arrived we all took one look at it and all had the same reaction which wasn’t positive. There were 6 unappetizing shrimp served on what looked like a small dessert plate smothered in a brownish looking sauce with chopped onions on top. Our waiter even asked while talking our order were there any food allergies and I clearly said yes I don’t eat raw onions.

After tasting a tiny portion of the shrimp we all sent the dish back as it was so bad tasting and actually inedible we were afraid we would end up with food poisoning.

Two of us opted for a Caesar salad, another had hummus and one person in our group opted for nothing. All mediocre dishes.

The service I must say was good however, the chef needs do something about the food preparation or lack of.

There are so many great restaurants in CDMX serving interesting and extremely tasty food but Botánico isn’t one of them and we would never return and absolutely never recommend...
