F O O D P O I S O N I N G A L E R T. We tried this restaurant last night as we are staying right across the street for several weeks and we had had great cappuccinos there last week. To start we had a roasted Artichoke from the appetizer menu. “Alcachofa al Grill” - it was a very tough artichoke and it was undercooked. I am from California and have eaten artichokes all my life, and frequently prepare them at home. When I told the waiter that it was not cooked properly, he told me that only the heart was supposed to be eaten and if that was soft it was fine. This is weird since there is a vessel for the disposal of the leaves that is brought to the table with the artichoke, clearly meant after you have eaten the “meat” at the base of the leaves. He didn’t even wait for me to reply or offer any remediation.
I had the “French Dip”. While not expecting an American French Dip sandwich, this was okay. Instead of beef consomme for dipping, you will receive a little tub of strangely purple colored flour based beef gravy.
My daughter order the “Crepa Mediterranea” and this is why I decided to write this review on my vacation. She has been up all night with violent food poisoning. She is a world traveler and actually has a very strong stomach, but this is HORRIBLE. The Crepe is served with lettuce on top, do yourself a favor and just skip the salad. It is not adequately cleaned before serving and will may make you violently ill.
Our bill was a total of $800 pesos with tip. Around $40 USD for the artichoke, sandwich, and crepe from hell, and 2 non-alcoholic beverages. I’m sad to have to write that this restaurant is a NO GO.
Read moreThe service was amazing, it was a bit crowded and people were loud but that’s not the restaurant’s fault, really. We just had a really loud table behind us. Ordered the Fusili Salmón which was very citrusy and true to its description. My friend ordered the Pollo a la Ciruella and it was not crispy. Kind of hard to chew, actually but the broccoli and cauliflower were nicely charred. The sauce was sweeter than expected but we should have expected that since it was made from ciruela lol.
Gave them 3 stars because their whole name was about Crepes and it was simply not up to our standards. Their lychee martini was a bit foamy, the Vin Chaud tasted like ponche and was amazing. The Cafe Arte Lattes were great.
Read moreThe food is terrible here and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I ordered a ensalada de la casa, sopa de cebolla gratinada, and hamburguesa de la casa. All of which were dry, bitter, and barely edible. The hamburger being the worst, served with a plastic-like slice of gruyere on a patty that was basically crumbling apart from how overcooked and dry it was. It came with burnt onion jam all served on a stale bun. This actually the only restaurant ever that I have had this bad an experience with in...
