FROM A WORLD TRAVELERS PERSPECTIVE From the moment I first stepped into this modern speakeasy back in 2021, right after the world started to open up post-COVID, WHEN THEY FIRST OPENED, I knew I had found a special place. Nestled in the heart of the vibrant Condesa neighborhood, Klaus’s restaurant "Anonimo" Is anything but "anonymous" and stands out as a testament to dedication, passion, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Returning in October 2023, I was delighted to find that the enchanting ambiance, meticulous attention to detail, and culinary excellence have remained steadfast. The staff, just as before, exude professionalism and warmth, making each guest feel valued and well taken care of. The chefs clearly pour their hearts and souls into each dish, ensuring that the freshness of the ingredients shines through in every bite. From the appetizers to the main courses and desserts, there’s a harmonious balance of flavors and textures, showcasing a deep understanding of and respect for the ingredients. The modern and hip speakeasy environment adds a layer of allure and charm, transporting guests to a world where every detail is curated for maximum enjoyment. The lighting is just right, the music is never overpowering, and the décor strikes a perfect balance between elegance and edginess. Klaus, the owner, has clearly poured his heart into creating a space that stands out not just in Condesa, but in the culinary landscape of the city. His passion is evident in the consistent quality of the food, the ambiance, and the service. This restaurant remains a must-visit for locals and tourists alike. Whether you’re a food connoisseur or simply in search of a delightful dining experience, you’ll find what you’re looking for here. Thank you, Klaus and team, for maintaining such a high standard of excellence and for continuing to enchant us with your culinary magic. Thank you Amigos! - Zak from Los Angeles

I was very excited to try this place. After I got my first reservation I cancelled eventually due to many friends telling me it was awful. I arrived at Mexico City and some friends told me it wad terrible and others told me that I should give it a try since they loved it. I decided to give the restaurant a try. The food was sad, even depressing. As a restaurateur I can say that the besides having legit Parmigiano Reggiano, the Caesar salad was fast food worthy. The katsu sando NEVER arrived and the waitress insisted that I had personally canceled it which I didn’t. The ragù was quite sad, it was very watery and the pasta was overcooked. The pizza was the “best” out of the four dishes (since the fourth never arrived) but lacking salt, flavor and personality overall. The dough was tasty though. The cocktails we ordered were overpriced but solid. I wanted to order a bottle of wine and they told me that they didn’t have a wine list since the wines were natural. What does that mean? I’ve been to natural wine bars and restaurants across the the world and that means absolutely nothing. They told me to check out the fridge which I did. I ordered a bottle of wine and a waiter or somm next to me told me that he was going to come to the table personally and suggest other two wines based on my choice. He never arrived. NEVER. This place is a joke.

I was quite surprised by the amount of negative reviews, many of which seemed excessive. For a start, the main problem seemed to have been the service. Me and my partner had a very pleasant experience overall. We had one waiter who served us throughout the night and was attentive, showing the right balance of readiness but also distance. Food was overall good. As an Italian used to Italian pasta in Italy, I need to stay that their pasta - although portions are small - was tasty. The sauce is enough to make you full - especially if you went for a starter before. We loved the carrot falafel and caponata bread as a starter. We then proceeded with the lemon pappardelle and the meat filled pasta (not a ravioli, but can’t recall the name). If I should really “complain”, I’d say that my red wine was too cold (although it tasted good), and the soft serve was a bit bland. Bonus is the music (another divisive topic among reviews). It’s hip hop, fairly old school but the volume is not too loud. If you don’t like it, then don’t go. We did like it very much. Food was overall on the expensive side. But we felt cared after and ate decently. Recommended.

10/10 would come again!

Service: We were a group of 8 adults, 1 toddler, and made reservations ahead of time for a Sunday evening. We showed up to our reservation on time, but I guess there was still a 3-person group at our table so they corrected their seating arrangements and moved them. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a “mistake” because I bet they anticipated they would be gone before we arrived. Our server was Jesús aka “Chucho” and he was phenomenally attentive. Even the bartenders took note that our toddler enjoyed the grapefruit garnishes from our cocktails and sliced some up for us. When we decided to end the night with tequila, Chucho taught us how to do it La Bandera style- lime juice, followed by tequila, then chased with sangrita.

Food: We ordered a bunch of things for a “family style” meal. All the food was delicious; I’m not sure what some of the negative reviews are? The dough on the pizza had a nice chew, toppings had great flavor (the best was the mushroom!). The pastas were cooked a bit softer than I usually prefer but handmade pastas nonetheless was good! The stand outs for me were the Caesar salad and the calamari. I would definitely go back for this alone!

Drinks: The cocktails were DELICIOUS. We all ordered different ones to try from their specialty menu and they all tasted refreshing. You can’t go wrong! The beer choices were just okkaayyy per one of my family members.

Vibe: We came in the evening so the place had a cozy dimly lit ambiance that made it feel like it could be an intimate date night. People there seemed to be locals catching up with each other. Even though it seemed like an intimate adult setting, they were so kind to cater to our large group and toddler. Another table has their dog with them (outdoor seating), so I think this place can also be...

I don't normally do this and have given it a bit to see if I still feel the same ... and I do. I went to celebrate my birthday at Anonimo, a reservation I made in-person 2 weeks in advance and confirmed multiple times. I love the food at Anonimo and while the service can be wonky, it's still an excellent spot. However, my birthday was ruined and this was an awful experience. 1. While I had requested a specific table and confirmed the day before, I was not seated where I had asked and was not even offered an apology. But the worst part was 2. I was served my cake with candles all in box and bag JUST LIKE THAT. Instead of potentially asking me, anyone else at the table or truly doing just about anything, the waiter just brought out the cake I brought and put it in front of me. There were other birthdays that day that had been treated deserts, special music etc. But for some reason, the service this day felt a necessity to give me a hard time. And we were the chillest, calmest table. This experience unfortunately ruined my relationship with this restaurant, which I genuinely enjoy because of the food (bravo to the kitchen team.) And despite what had happened, not a single apology was offered and the manager never came up to figure out what had happened which is standard. As a result, I paid (and tipped WELL, because I also work in the industry and am a food writer) and walked away. Zero drama on my end. But I was left quite hurt and believe that you guys very much deserve this review! Get your service together and your team trained because clearly what you're serving is not up to par with the experience and it is...
