Dr. Pizza — Restaurant in Mexico City

I recently checked out Dr. Pizza in Coyoacán, Mexico City, and I gotta say, it's pretty awesome! These guys serve up some seriously legit neapolitan style pizzas baked in a brick oven, and the quality is top-notch. I brought a date here for a first date. Great atmosphere for a first date. Nice fun restaurant that is not too formal.

To kick things off, I went for their burrata, which was super fresh and paired perfectly with tasty tomatoes. Then, I orderer the Dr. Frankenstein pizza – it's loaded with pepperoni, Italian sausage, salami, mozzarella, and tomatoes. The crust was just the right amount of crispy, and each bite was a flavor explosion. The pizza is perfectly portioned for 2 to 3 people.

Dr. Pizza has some seriously cool lighting that sets the mood. The restaurant attracts a trendy, hip crowd. The brick pizza ovens are exposed, and the wall has a cool mural. Plus, they've got a solid selection of beer and wine, so you can find the ideal drink to go with your pizza. They also have authentic Italian gelato, which goes well on a hot day in Mexico City.

Visité Doctor Pizza recientemente y en general tuve una buena experiencia. El lugar es agradable, con un ambiente familiar y un servicio correcto. Uno de los puntos que más me gustó es que tienen un área de juegos para niños, lo cual hace toda la diferencia si vas en familia. Los pequeños se divierten y los adultos pueden disfrutar la comida con más tranquilidad.

En cuanto a la comida, está rica en general, aunque la pizza —que se supone es la especialidad del lugar— no me pareció nada fuera de lo común. No está mal, pero tampoco destaca. La masa y los ingredientes son correctos, pero no tienen ese sabor que te haga pensar “tengo que volver por esta pizza”. Sin embargo, hay otros platillos que sí valen mucho la pena. Los calamares fritos, por ejemplo, están excelentes: crujientes, bien sazonados y nada grasosos. También recomiendo mucho el helado de pistache, que fue una grata sorpresa: cremoso, con buen sabor y se nota que es de buena calidad.
