The single best meal I’ve ever had. To start there is a waiter outside a café that will ask your name for the reservation and then walk you in past a curtain in the café. Once past the curtain you’re met with a stair case that brings you up to the restaurant. It feels like you’re entering a new world. It is so beautiful, well furnished, and cozy. Once you sit down they give you a placard with a QR code for the menu on it. There are many drink options, my partner and I each got a kombucha and they were both delicious. The food menu had six dishes and one dessert and it ended up being the perfect amount for us to get one of everything including the desert. I would walk you through each dish but suffice to say each belongs in my top 20 dishes ever, and this meal was the best I’ve ever had in total. Also everything aside from the bread that came along side one of the dishes was gluten free. Along with this the waitstaff were perfect, very kind, pacing our dishes perfectly, bring the check once we asked for it, after we had some time to simmer.
Thank you all so much for the most amazing...
Read moreThis was - hands down - the best meal I've ever had. Esquina Comun genuinely elevated my standards of what 'great food' really means and gave me new appreciation for the art of cooking, and the creativity that goes into being a great chef. The menu is clearly designed by someone who is in total control of their craft.
Between 2 people, we ordered the whole tasting menu, which I highly recommend. The portions are small, but it adds up to full & happy stomach by the end. Even if a dish seems like you wouldn't normally like - get it. Trust me. A 'raw shrimp & plantain ceviche' is not something I would normally order, but it ended up being the best thing I've ever eaten.
There's a rotating menu so you can't be sure of what will be available when you visit, but I'm confident everything they serve will always be amazing.
Quick FYI - when we went last September, they called us the day of our reservation to double check our booking. Also, the entrance is tricky to find; you go through this cafe below and go up the stairs to the...
Read moreEsquina Común was a peaceful and truly exceptional dining experience. Tucked away on a rooftop that feels like a hidden treehouse, the spot was intimate and perfect for their thoughtfully crafted menu. They offer just seven dishes, and typically recommend ordering all dishes for a full tasting experience. Since I was dining solo, they were super accommodating and offered half portions of most dishes at half price.
The food was full of highlights: mackerel tostada was refreshing with bright and distinctive flavors; plantain with charred shrimp and coconut with a gentle spice kick; and the soup was rich with umami. The wagyu main course offered deep, spice-forward flavors, while the rabbit sope was pleasantly gamey with interesting textural contrasts. The meal was well paced and allowed time to savor all bites and the dining ambience.
Overall, this place is a wonderful gem - an intimate spot for experiencing fresh and creative flavors in a laid back...
