La Otilia is a quiet café located in a green corner of Polanco. The space is simple, with a nature-inspired design. Service was attentive and friendly.
We ordered two cappuccinos—nicely presented with small edible flowers, though they wilt quickly and need to be removed. We also had a café americano with oat milk, which was smooth. The avocado toast didn’t quite work: the bread was too small for the amount of topping, the raw onion was overpowering, and the dish was overly salty—even for someone used to salt. The side salad was plain mixed greens.
The blueberry banana bread was dense and moist, with bursts of sweetness from the blueberries. It wasn’t sweet overall, which matches their no-refined-sugar approach, but it could benefit from a spread. The vanilla “concha” was warm, slightly sweet, and had the texture of a soft butter biscuit—simple but enjoyable.
The ginger, lemon, and cúrcuma juice was served warm, which felt off. We also had a mineral water.
Cutlery comes wrapped in a reusable leaf-like cover that touches the napkin and utensils. While eco-conscious, this raises hygiene concerns. We’ve visited their Condesa branch as well—similar menu and concept.

Edit after reply from owner:
I understand the ingredients are more expensive and I understand it’s in the middle of Polanco so prices will be higher than other places in the city at non gluten free restaurants. HOWEVER, I paid 1000 pesos for two coffees and two waffle orders. It’s very steep in my opinion.
I visited for the first time a couple of years ago and it was delicious. I have also gone to the other small otilia location last year previously and it was good as well. The waffles this time were completely flat tastewise and the coffee which I ordered with almond mild was not good.
I will not...
