Nothing gives me greater pleasure than giving a vegan establishment 5 stars. Unfortunately I cannot in this case as there’s several areas in which mora mora is lacking that would need to be improved.
The food is, for the most part, very good. Clean, healthy & filling.
But the service is kind of weird and leaves much to be desired. The establishment is definitely more of a shop than a cafe with a decent selection of products to stock any vegan larder. There are no wait staff, just kitchen staff who you can hope to grab to place an order as they pop in and out making deliveries. They are generally friendly, even if you don’t speak Spanish, which is appreciated and commendable.
However the service is quite slow. On my second visit, they took half an hour to bring me a salad (already pre-made) and 2 slabs of tofu from the chiller. They obviously forgot or something. When they brought me the salad they brought it with no cutlery, i had to wait for them to come back so I could ask again.
I ordered the tempeh bacon which last time was delicious, this time it was mostly just kale. Very few chickpeas and tempeh and absolutely no avocado, which is just false advertising and not really acceptable without telling a customer beforehand.
I will order from them again as I always like to give vegan places a chance and hopefully they will have improved on these areas next time as it would be a shame to see a place that has so much potential fail. I will be happy to amend my review should they fix these issues. 🤞🏽
Update: I contacted them a week or 2 back as per their request below and...
Read moreCrushing disappointment! I was psyched to try this place based on their delicious sounding menu. I admit, I’m a sucker for claims of “clean” food. Also, they’re just a five-minute walk from my apartment! Turns out it was all too good to be true.
The first disappointment was the cook wearing his mask under his chin, and another employee not wearing a mask at all. Also maskless: the few diners in various stages of not-eating, along with delivery drivers waiting for their orders. Regardless, I went ahead and ordered.
I requested “sin cebolla” which the server repeated. Upon arriving home, I discovered the chilaquiles were covered in pickled onions. I pulled these off only to discover the dish was strewn with sauteed onions! I went back and requested a different menu item, but the server wouldn’t agree to switch. Instead they just pulled out most (not all) of the onions – which obviously I could’ve done myself at home - and gave the same gross dish back to me. Yuck-o.
Even if they hadn’t ignored my request for no onions, this was a two-star dish at best, served cold with the chips still crunchy. Was I supposed to bake it myself? As it came, it wasn’t chilaquiles but chips and salsa - just with several forms of onions mixed in.
So much for clean eating! I was actually sick for two days after this, and while I can’t say 100% that it was Mora Mora, I’d only been eating safe things at home before that – no reason to suspect anything else. In any case, I’m in no rush to give them a second chance.
At least they are vegan, so I was the only animal to suffer because of...
Read moreHaving eaten here probably 50+ times, it’s fine for what it is, good not great, but with some small fixes it could be a lot better. Feedback for the owner: They often won’t let you make any modifications to the smoothies or make a custom smoothie (I want a very simple banana, oat or almond milk, almond or peanut butter, protein powder, kale or spinach) and they act like I’m asking for the world upside down. It takes absolutely forever to come out often with a disconnect between the front where orders are taken and the back where a smoothie is made. The straws for the smoothies are too narrow and flimsy to actually get a good sip up with, and that’s if the straw doesn’t just break. There is always, always a 2 inch chunk of frozen banana at the bottom of the smoothie. Blend your smoothies for longer!
Overall inconveniences but today I was told that the smoothies are already pre-mixed which, if that were true, which it isn’t, why do they take 20 minutes to be made? I think I’ve finally decided this place, despite being between gym and home, isn’t worth the trouble and I’ll try elsewhere or just make...
