QUILMEX — Restaurant in Mexico City

A little piece of Argentina in the middle of Mexico with a sample of flavors and dishes that stay true to what you may find in a cafe in Buenos Aires. I recommend the milanesa sandwich for its flavor profile. I like their take using pizza bread, sort of like a pita, because the milanesa doesn't flop over the sides as it tends to when using una flauta de pan común. This way you can manage the sandwich with ease. I also appreciate the addition of a few leaves of lettuce as the base to the ensalada rusa; it adds a nice touch and keeps it lighter. It was also great to get some yerba mate. The menu is not huge, but that isn't the point. What you'll find is a good sample of everyday Argentine cuisine. This is an Argentinean and Mexican restaurant. The food is very good, and one of the few places in the neighborhood that served empanadas (that I found anyway). If you don't know empanadas, I recommend coming here and ordering some.

Great little spot! The food was excellent, the service was prompt and courteous, and the flan was wicked!! Just the right blend of flavors, not too salty on the dinner, not too sweet on the dessert. Oh yeah, and notice the tables are sewing machine cabinets with the old Singer machines....
