Mediocre food, poor service, great atmosphere.
I ate here 4 years ago when we visited Mexico city and I was mesmerized. This time around, we made the reservation here long before we arrived. To our surprised, this time around everything was much different.
First of all, the restaurant was cold. They had portable heaters and we asked if they could bring one heater closer. Three different people of the staff came by to say they can't because other guests may get cold. For entirety of our dinner, there was no other table occupied near us that could benefit from the heater. Out of an abstract argument, they let us stay uncomfortable throughout the dinner.
When they delivered the food, multiple items in the order were incorrect. We had to talk through and explain again and again what we ordered. They later asked if it is okay they give us what we did not order instead. Eventually they brought what we ordered but it felt very weird for such an expensive restaurant.
The taste was also not great. The tempura ice cream was cold and chewy outside and frozen inside. Most of the sushi was at best okay. To my surprise some sushi had cilantro which I don't eat. It was not listed in the menu as an ingredient which is pretty weird considering it is not a typical ingredient for sushi. They were kind enough to not charge us for one plate of sushi because we did not eat because of this.
Our waitress, a slightly older woman, had an attitude of a patronizing mother. She treated us a bit like children during the struggles I mentioned above, almost not respecting us as customers and trying to dismiss our requests (like receiving what we ordered instead of something else she brought). I thought maybe I misunderstood her manners because I don't speak much Spanish but my husband, a Mexican, had the same impression when we talked about it after we left the restaurant.
The restaurant has great decoration and atmosphere but the service and the food does not even remotely match the price point. There are many incredible restaurants in Mexico City. If you skip this one, I don't think you'll...

It is a very elegant restaurant that is currently one of my favorites to go to eat Japanese food. The lighting on the façade is spectacular, the treatment of the waiters was unique, I will definitely return. Although in my opinion the price is slightly high, it is worth it for the service, the flavors and the place, there is no parking, you have to leave it on the street and pay the meter, although only until 8 pm. The façade does not have a sign, I had to ask the guard since it was my first time there. It has a ramp type access so that a person in a wheelchair can enter without problem and it has a bathroom in the lower part. Read moreReally liked the atmosphere at this cool Japanese spot in Polanco. Very non descript from the street but once inside the vibe is great. We shared a couple of sushi rolls, some apps, and the teppanyaki. Food was good, not great. The problem was with paying. My credit card was rejected, they tried it 5 times. Then my gf tried hers, also rejected. Then they tried mine 2 more times. Rejected. Then they proceed to say they've had issues with their machines and to hold on while they boot up the old system to try. It was a bit embarrassing to have my card rejected multiple times which has never happened before. This same card I had been using all over Mexico city up to this point and only after they tried it 10 times I'm told oh maybe it's not the card but the system. So we had to wait 30+ minutes for them to boot up the old system. Not one person apologized for the delay, not an offer for a drink or dessert while we had to wait. Nothing. No manager coming over to explain the issue. I've never experienced anything like this before but I get it, things happen. But to have nobody offer any apology or anything for having to wait around to pay the bill is absurd. I'll never be back and I would...
