I made a reservation for Dec 26 on Oct 6, that's over 2 1/2 months in advance. On Dec 26 we arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before our reservation. There were 2 hostesses at the front entrance. I told them my name and that we had a reservation for 7pm. The hostesses consulted each other and one of them told me that the only table available was in the smoking section. When I made the reservation there was no where to specify smoking or non-smoking. I told them that I made the reservation several months ago, a table in the smoking section is unacceptable and to find us another table. They, again, consulted each other and one of them responded with "that's the only table available". They offered us a table at their sister restaurant next door which was completely empty. They tried to make it seem like it was same restaurant and we had draw it out of them that it was different. They were clearly trying to fool us. I told them I did not make a reservation at that restaurant. My husband asked to speak to the manager. A few minutes later a manager came out and he and my husband discussed the situation. The manager said he would find a table for us in a few minutes. About 5 minutes later he came back and took us to a table. It was clear that this table was squeezed in between 2 other tables and the area was very crowded. It was right across the galley where the waiters walked to and from the kitchen with lots of commotion. We immediately left the table and went back to the entrance. The manager came back out and my husband told him that the table was unacceptable. My husband pointed to a plaque on the wall that said "Grupo RosaNegra, ultra high end fine dining" which means excellent service, which is not what we were receiving. The manager said to give him a few more minutes and he would again find a better table for us. At that point we were so disappointed in how we were treated. None of the staff or the manager apologized to us at any time during this ordeal. The manager seemed more concerned about how he looked in front of his staff than our experience. The hostesses kept whispering to each other and looking at us. We were very uncomfortable and knew that the staff couldn't make up for their horrible service and we left the restaurant. The manager eventually texted me and said the he came out to look for us and we were gone. He said he didn't understand why we were so upset from the beginning. He had the nerve to blame us for being upset when he and his staff never apologized. What is the point of making a reservation if the restaurant is not capable of giving you a proper table and providing respectful service? At the prices they were charging we expected much more. Our whole experience at Rosa Negra felt very classist and possibly...

My experience at Rosa Negra in Polanco was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. We began our culinary journey with the fire-grilled octopus, which was tender and bursting with flavor, setting the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.
Next, we indulged in the classic Caesar salad, followed by a succulent sirloin steak accompanied by a vibrant side of veggies and perfectly crispy fries. However, it was the seabass prepared tableside that truly stole the show, leaving us in awe of both the presentation and the exquisite taste.
To complement our meal, we enjoyed a selection of drinks including tequilas, margaritas, and some fine wine, each enhancing the flavors of our dishes and adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening.
A special mention must be made for our waiter, Jorge Luna, whose professionalism and courtesy elevated our dining experience. Furthermore, kudos to the entire team, including Mario Montereal, Fernando Gutierrez, and Eduardo Lalo, whose dedication and attention to detail ensured that our night was nothing short of incredible.
The ambiance at Rosa Negra was vibrant and inviting, with unexpected surprises such as sparklers and great music adding to the celebratory atmosphere. It was a night filled with laughter, great performances, and of course, outstanding food. Rosa Negra in Polanco exceeded all expectations, delivering an unforgettable culinary journey that I can't wait to experience again.

Read moreThe reason I gave this restaurant 3 stars is because the Wagyu burger my bf had there was the best burger we've ever had in our lives. There's quite a lot I might endure to have that burger again. And the pulled pork tacos were also top 5 tacos I've ever had.
However, the service we received, the price, and the quality of the flan and New Zealand Salmon were all very negative. We got seated 20 minutes after our reservation, outside in the cold, at a table that shook every time someone walked past us. I asked multiple times to have a different table, even as people around us left their table, only to be ignored. It took 10 minutes to even get water and a menu. We let the host and waiter know of a nut allergy and were still served a sauce with nuts. He came by 10 minutes later and told us there were nuts in it. Luckily, that was the spicy one and the person with a nut allergy also doesn't do spice, but that could have ended poorly. It happened a second time with the dressing of an appetizer. No apology or acknowledgement from management. The salmon I ordered was about room temperature for outside, just outside the range of a single heat lamp. It was not recently prepared. The flan trio for dessert was a miss on all 3, from cloying sweet to actually just cheesecake. My comments to the waiter led to nothing.
Every 20 minutes or so, a live band would walk through the restaurant and sing a few songs. The restaurant received it in various states: sometimes welcome, sometimes ignored, sometimes all in and dancing.
Honestly, would I go back for that burger and taco? Yes, probably, with a different attitude going in knowing this is not fine dining or quality service. Would I recommend this restaurant? No, especially if you have any sensitive food allergies, really care about service, or would like a...
