Marco Polo — Restaurant in Morelos

Haven't been here since a long time, I did notice this place is not as good as it used to be. The service is barely ok. The attendants do not look happy and they're not servicial. The food quality and the size of the dish is not the same... I ordered pasta with shrimp and the size of the plate was so small I had to ask if there wasn't an error. The waiter told me that 115 grams (3.8 oz) of pasta was the standard size. My comment was that pasta is very cheap so they shouldn't economize on that. Anyways, I was still hungry after the meal which was soup and pasta. They also used to serve little pieces of pizza bread while you order your food, not anymore. On my second visit on the same day (it wasn't my choice) we had to wait for more than an hour to get our dinner served, we ordered pizzas. And again, the taste and size of the food was merely ok. I sincerely hope this restaurant takes care of these issues since is a traditional place in Cuernavaca. Letting a customer walk away still hungry after one entree and a main dish is the mother of all sins for...

He visitado el lugar 3 veces y nunca había tenido algún tema de disgusto hasta ayer. La comida muy rica y las pizzas muy bien, pero el servicio de ayer fue algo nefasto.

Llegué 9:50 PM con una acompañante y la hostess nos recibió desde un principio avisándonos que cerraban a las 10:30, a lo cual le pregunté… “Pero aún nos pueden recibir y dar servicio?” Y me afirmó que si, que solo tuviéramos en cuenta que cerraban a las 10:30. Primer punto en el que nos hicieron sentir presionados.

Al darnos la mesa enseguida nos dieron las cartas, y a los dos minutos llega un mesero, un señor de lentes, a tomarnos la orden. Le dije, “Nos puede dar más tiempo? Nos acaban de dar las cartas hace como 2 minutos” y me responde “Le comento que hoy cerramos a las 10:30 y pronto cerramos cocina”, se dio la vuelta y se fue. Segundo punto que nos hicieron sentir súper incómodos y presionados.

Por lo mismo, revisamos rápido la carta y pedimos los que nos pareció mejor sin contemplar bien los platillos. Cuando estábamos listos, le hablé a otro joven que iba pasando para tomar nuestra orden, quien muy amablemente la tomó. No tardaron nada en traer la comida, y en en ese momento quisimos agregar un postre a la orden. A lo que el mismo señor de lentes nos dice “Ya tomé su orden y ya la cerramos, no podemos agregar nada más a su orden, una disculpa”Lo cual lo sentí muy fuera de lugar porque el postre ya está preparado. No estaba pidiendo más comida, estaba pidiendo un postre que tiene en el refri ya preparado. Le hablé al otro joven que nos había tomado la orden y le comenté lo del postre, a lo que me respondió. “Si caballero, el postre ya lo tenemos preparado, cual gusta que le agregué a su orden para traérselo?” Muy amablemente. Pero al alejarse de la mesa, me di cuenta que el señor de lentes le llamó la atención por haberme aceptado el postre en mi orden. El joven regresó apenado y me dijo que tuvo un problema y no iba ser posible lo traerme mi postre, le dije que entendía y que no había problema. Al último decidí dejarle la propina directamente al joven que nos atendió muy amablemente.

Ahora, también soy consciente de que llegamos a 40 minutos de que cerrara el restaurante. Pero no son maneras de atender a la gente. Yo también he trabajado en lugares donde se estipula una hora de cierre, y sé que es inconveniente para el servicio, pero el servicio se deba dar completo mientras lleguen ANTES de la hora del cierre. Si van aceptar clientes, por lo menos que atiendan bien y no a medias. En ese caso nos hubieran dicho que no les iba dar tiempo de atendernos y hubiese entendido totalmente. Es desafortunado porque el lugar es bonito y la comida es rica, pero con ese servicio no dan ganas...

One of the best views in town, Marco Polo is where you find good quality Italian food with a historic twon vibe. Located on the second floor, you can see the cathedral from the balcony and can enjoy a romantic or solo dinner. I had a glass of Rose wine, followed by Eggplant appetizer (melanzana a la napoletana), Rotolini di pasta sfoglia (salmon in puff pastry in a sauce), and Fungi Saltati (sauteed mushrooms).

Overall, the food was tasty and service was great. I liked the eggplant appetizer the most, then followed by mushrooms. The musrooms are on the salty side. I was not a big fan of puff pastry with salmon, I just dont like the taste of cooked salmon but if you like it, it;s a rich appetizer (covered with a lot of cheese).

I loved the view of the restaurant the most. I was a very memorable evening for me...
