I was SO looking forward to eating at Armando’s Place, as the ratings and reviews online are solidly good, but my experience in dining there yesterday was SO disappointing. My husband and I arrived around 8:30pm. They are open until 10pm. Perhaps the key to a better dining experience is arriving earlier, I don’t know. Shouldn’t the food be consistently the same throughout the evening, regardless of when you arrive? What I know is that our food wasn’t up to expectations. I ordered the 3 fish tacos, rice and guacamole and my husband ordered the bbq ribs and slaw. The fish in my tacos had to have been cooked earlier. It was dry and tasteless, not even hot and there was absolutely no effort made in presentation. I wouldn’t fault them for presentation if the tacos had been delicious, but they weren’t. There were a few thin strips of over-cooked fish placed on corn tortillas covered with thinly sliced red cabbage, diced tomatoes, cilantro and some kind of sauce. It warranted a solid “1” for freshness, flavors and appearance. As for my husband’s ribs, he said the bbq was good, but again I think (from looking at them) the ribs were cooked earlier and just reheated. They didn’t look juicy from my side of the table. And for the $499 pesos they charge for these ribs, I certainly expected better. My husband enjoyed the sweetness of the slaw. It looked like it had raisins in it for sweetness. I feel like I’m being generous in rating the food a “2” simply because hubby felt his meal was okay. He simply wished that the ribs had had more meat on them or the portion had been larger for the price. ...
Read moreWell, our experience was just awful, not worth the money. We were a group of 14 people. My friend waited almost an hour for his second beer. The coconut shrimp, some were under cooked and some were over cooked. My wife order a dish and got something else. After comfirming with our waiter what she had ordered, he agreed it was wrong. He said they would take it off the bill, but never did. The pasta dish ordered was very dry, not enough sauce. After waiting over an hour and a half for our food, the portions were very skimpy. The paella that others ordered lacked some of the ingredients of the real paella, such as chicken, chorizo, mussels, vegetables, clams, and above all, lots of rice. And it was just put on top not cooked together. A lobster tail on a small bed of rice with a few of the ingredients is not acceptable. I doubt there was any saffron in the rice. I was hungry after eating my fish fillet dish. We expected to order dessert and coffee to fill the gap, but the waiters never came around to ask how our meals were and never offerered a dessert menu or even more drinks or beer to any of us. Some left more thristy than when they arrived. Fast service to bring the bill, though. Not recommneded for big groups, they dont know how to handle them. We will never eat there again or...
Read moreCaesar salad had almost no dressing on it and was so bland it was like eating just the romaine lettuce by itself. The seafood peiella was not very good. It tasted like it only had a little bit of a chicken bulon base and the seafood was over cooked especially the over cooked dry lobster. Three small clams three small mussels and two pieces of fish. Also the rice was a little bit undercooked. At least the fish did taste fresh but for 600 pesos it should have been better. The service was terrible. Our food took 70 minutes to arrive and we asked for extra chips and dip because we were sharing a table. After asking three or four times he did bring chips but never brought us dip. Overpriced experience. We will not ever be returning. Unfortunate too because we were excited because of all the...
