Unfortunately, we had unnecessarily, very slow, poor service (thus the 2 Star Rating) as there was only two other tables occupied at the time we were there (and we were sitting right in front of the bar where the two employees were standing (and working) the entire time.
We ordered coffees and a light brunch. Coffees finally came, we finished them (never offered refills) and our meals finally came. My enchiladas came out cold, so I asked for them to be re-heated, then also asked for two aguas frescas to accompany our meals.
Empty coffee cups, creamer and sugar containers sat empty on the table most of the entire meal.. Finally, the cook walked out with my reheated meal. My wife and I slowly ate our meals, hoping the aguas frescas were coming soon. I finally asked the male barista about our aguas and he seemed to have forgot about them, and then began making them.
Our meals were complete, plates empty and he finally brought us our two drinks. He removed the empty coffee cups at the time, but left all of the empty, dirty plates on the table, so I asked him for our bill.
Seemed like forever, but bill finally came. I noticed he charged us for 4 aguas frescas (not 2), so I motioned him back to the table and showed him the error. He took the bill and worked on it for awhile at the register, then gave up. Appeared he couldn’t figure it out. We patiently waited as he went on to other things to do behind the bar.
I motioned to the girl behind the bar for our bill, and she and he talked, worked on it together for awhile and the corrected bill finally came.
The food was ok, not great, but the slow, uninterested service was terrible and really made for a bad experience that could of easily been a 4+ Star Rating, with a little awareness to details...
Read moreI made the mistake of stopping in here after thinking it had a higher review than it did. That's on me. If you're looking to get gringo priced in Oaxaca, this is the spot. I ordered an iced coffee (65 pesos) and an avocado toast with eggs (150 pesos, what in the world), and was confused when the avocado toast, which on the menu comes with tomato, came tomato-less. To the credit of the very nice chefs, they added a tomato for me free of charge, but said that it's an either/or, eggs or tomato. For 150 pesos for two tiny slices of toast, they can include the tomato for free. Basically, there are literally a thousand other options in Oaxaca, many where you can get a similar meal for 1/3 the price. This place does well because of the terrace, and to be fair, the food was good, but the pricing is just outrageous...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this coffee shop while wandering around the city and it was such a pleasant surprise. Each floor is beautifully decorated with plenty of comfortable and cool seating. However, the gem is the rooftop. You want to take in the city almost 360 degrees in shade and surrounded by lush plants. We immediately felt welcome here as there were many guests from all over the world striking up conversation and inviting us in. It's just the mood of this space! We ordered coffees and juices and they were all thirst-quenchingly wonderful. The star for my partner was the vegan chilaquiles which is quite hard to find. I had an italian sandwich on the best homemade ciabatta. It was the perfect lunch. Swing by this cafe for a unique oasis dining experience in the city. You won't be...
