El Empedrado — Restaurant in Oaxaca

My husband and I have now eaten here twice - once for brunch on Sunday and once for dinner during the week. Both times the food/drinks, service and atmosphere were wonderful. On Sunday there was a fabulous guitarist/singer who was so good we couldn’t believe our luck. The food is tasty and fresh and the drink menu is full of options. I particularly enjoyed the hot pineapple mango tea that comes in a big cup that’s wonderful to hold and my husband had a smoothie he totally enjoyed. Hidden gem. This is a family run cafe offering sandwiches including vegan options in a lively outdoor setting with shaded tables plants, flowers and enjoyable music. I had the chicken sandwich, ooh yeah very tasty. Coffee with almond milk and orange and papaya juice (fresh) my wife is vegan and loved her sandwich and the opportunity to have coffee with nut milk. Mi experiencia no fue lo que esperaba, tenía expectativas grandes sobre el lugar. Mi vista la realice en un horario de comida a las 3:00 p.m. el lugar es agradable en cuanto a decoración y espacios, pedimos una hamburguesa de pescado llamada costera con mucha honestidad les comento que no tenía sazón venía acompañada de papas en gajos que eran mejor que la hamburguesa que para el precio $165 se espera algo mejor, también pedimos una tlayuda con tasajo por $125 que al momento de servirla después de un tiempo exagerado de espera se les olvidó ponerle el tasajo que posteriormente al hacerles la observación lo trajeron es una tlayuda simple y sin mucho que ofrecer viene acompañada de un chile de agua y chepiches, por último pedí una baguette de cochinita pibil que de igual manera sin sazón demasiada simple y nuevamente lo mejor las papas con la que se acompaña. El tiempo para servir los platillos que como se aprecia no son tan elaborados son muy tardados cabe mencionar que en ese momento nosotros éramos la unica mesa de comensales y al hacer la observación al mesero nos comento que en ese horario era el cambio de turno y por esa situación los retrasos.
