The worst ceviche I've ever had in my life. Went there to eat, my girlfriend ordered a fish taco and a shrimp taco, I ordered ceviche. She got her food right away, I got mine when she was already finished, about 30 minutes later. The shrimp taco was full of oil and was extremely salty, the fish taco was fine. My ceviche came to the table so carelessly, it looked like it had been made for a prisoner. A bit of fish, pineapple and something else, onions I think. No lime juice, no spiceness and a very small portion. I usually like to take a picture of the food, but I didn't do that here. The taste wasn't worthy of any ceviche, I've been eating ceviche for over 20 years and I've never tried anything like it. Above all, this restaurant has nothing to do with Mexico, really nothing at all. There are no Mexicans serving there, and the owner isn't either. The waitress is a bunch of gringos, or at least that's what they look like, one of them is always on coke and thinks you don't notice it, so he can hardly do his job (dark hair, relatively tall, looks a bit like the guy from American Pie but thinner). I really wonder how they get the good reviews here... The customers are also gringos who don't even know what a ceviche is or what it tastes like. They're probably all drunk and that's why they don't care what you serve them. There's a restaurant right next to it called "La Ola", which is cheaper and much better at the same time. Went there yesterday and loved the coconut shrimp tacos. Better try this restaurant, much more authentical food. The ceviche there is definitely better and, above all, you...
Read moreWe had a great time here!
The food, like everyone mentions was outstanding. We tried the white fish sandwich..(good they have options that are not deep fried). The fish was marinated or had a seasoning, then cooked/ grilled to perfection. It had a house made pickle that blew our minds. Think there was fresh epazote in it. Was so good we ordered another one in the end, even though we were pretty full! Serves are generous.
The Pescadillas (tinga) were so original and special. The shell was dorados style so super crunchy and delicious filling of fish in tinga sauce) just WOW 🤩. Confused as why some reviews say this is just a fried fish place?? It’s clearly got some totally unique dishes that are not just simply fried and battered seafood. YES of course we had the coconut shrimp and it was really great.. the tangy slaw balances out the sweetness of the coconut. I don’t usually like coconut shrimp made to US peoples taste because they often pair with a sweet or mango sauce and it just ends up being a dessert. These guys have made it just right 😋
The interior is beachy and bright. They have seats in a side room at a big share table (we had to ourself). We enjoyed the music, the food, service and everything very much. Drinks were exceptional as well!
Can’t wait to go back and try more things on the menu
You must try there other restaurant in Punta called The Smoke Shack (that experience is what lead us...
Read moreAmazing food, service & overall energy. Located in an intimate alley way of artist shops on the beach. Regardless of what it may look like to the untrained eye, it is all goodness here. In the front they have 1-2 long tables for groups of people & then past the kitchen smaller tables for 4 people. The food is excellent with a wide selection of options. My favorite is the coconut encrusted jumbo shrimp & Poboy. I also like the calimari except it is fried with either wheat breading, battered with dairy butter or both; two things I am very allergic to. Not their fault. No matter though next time I'll just order the same but grilled or steamed & request coconut oil is used instead of dairy butter. Over all I'm extremely satisfied with everything here & look forward to eating here again. Please note while all the stores & restaurants are open parking is tricky, so just drive down to the end of the block where you can only make a left turn to find lots of parking on the left or right. From there Fish Shack is a 2min or less walk to obtain some local seafood...
