We went twice as I don’t like to review base on one experience so I thought let’s try again. The first we had both the Shoyu Ramen , at least it had a Ramen taste but the pork that it should be marinated with Shia-siu or that’s what it say the menu , it has not taste at all, just a normal boil pork. Anyway we where happy at least the soup it tast as it should , Ramen. Second time: I had miso and Salomon maki. I exclusively ask which ones of the Makis were with Nori, they told me all of them, my surprise was when it came it has no Nori anywhere ???? My husband went this time for Sea food Ramen, it came certainly with sea food but not taste a Ramen at all. Just a sea food soup, also very gelatinous consistency, so he was very disappointed not because it was bad , but because for that you can go anywhere where they do sea food, in a Japanese you expect a Ramen taste, or if not better to sell it as a not Ramen soup but a sea food soup, like this not expectations. Service is very kind and attentive, the place beautiful but for us we will not...
Read moreI’ll start with the good. The ambience and the staff were amazing. You’re greeted by this beautiful courtyard once you step into the restaurant, and the walls were full of murals that was a fusion of Mexican and Japanese culture — very unique. Prices are pretty decent, not too high.
My girlfriend who tried the vegetarian ramen had an amazing mushroom broth. The salad spring rolls were delicious.
Unfortunately, this is when things start falling short. The Shoryu Ramen had an extremely weak broth, the chashu were absolutely tiny, and the ramen was soggy — which made me feel like the chef didn’t know what they were doing. The Limonada Mineral felt like mineral water with simply lemon squeezed into it. Didn’t taste great.
Overall, I would still recommend coming to Kintaro especially if you are having a ramen craving. The restaurant is gorgeous. However, definitely come with tempered expectations if you’re from city with incredible ramen (I came from Vancouver, holla at...
Read moreMy lady and I were here in Oaxaca for a five day vacation and so I could see the birthplace of her Padre. The first two nights we totally gorged ourselves on local Mexican cuisine - mostly mercado and street vendors - so no reviews to be had there. However, Saturday night we needed something different so we decided to look for a good sushi spot. After walking about 2 1/2 miles to different locations that were either closed or no longer in business, we decided to head to Kintaro, which was about a half a block away from our Airbnb. Couldn’t have made a better decision! it is extremely beautiful from an architectural standpoint and the service and food matched. We had a couple of different things on the menu with the highlight for me being the Shoyu Ramen. Definitely a very strong representation of good Ramen and sushi. Would definitely recommend checking this spot out if you want authentic ramen and sushi in a upscale atmosphere with...
