La Pulquísima Coctelería y Mezcalería Ancestral — Restaurant in Oaxaca

I want to start out by saying I like bars and this is a bar. It’s in a beautiful location and it’s a beautiful bar that serves excellent mezcals and tequilas. They don’t serve food, but you can order excellent Mexican food fro a restaurant nearby. I am ranking it low for other reasons. They have mastered everything, except the most important thing, the bar experience. There are always overseers (watchman) watching everything the bartender serves. They are busy taking notes in a notepad and giving feedback to the bartender. It’s like they are afraid s/he is going to pour a quarter ounce too much. This behavior prohibits a connection with the bartender and adds an unnecessary level of intensity to the atmosphere. Fantastic Mezcal and Agave selection and a lovely and informative tasting experience with Alex. Tried the 3 pictured and they were all incredibly interesting - I had never tasted Raicilla (left) or Sotol (right) before and both were phenomenal! The middle mezcal also very tasty.
