We were really impressed with this place! I had made reservations at a different restaurant also in Centro for my fiance's birthday. We get to th restaurant to find out not only did they not have our reservation, but the kitchen was closed that night. Sooo... I see the reviews for La Azotea and we chose to have dinner there.
We were quickly sat by the edge of the patio and had a wonderful view of the church. We ordered drinks: a mojito and a pasíon mezcalera. The mojito was okay, but the passion fruit drink was really good.
I ordered the pulpo y risotto al funghi. Ohmigosh it was absolutely delicious! And a huge portion!! Definitely recommend.
My fiance ordered the filet mignon. It was two good sized portions of a filet wrapped in some sort of pork (almost like bacon wrapped, but it wasn't bacon) on a bed of mashed potatoes. This was also a huge portion and the meat was cooked to perfection (between rare and medium rare). It was so good that he wanted to have it again the next night.
It was my fiance's birthday and they brought him a nice dessert and the saxophone player from the band played for him. They made it so special!
We also witnessed fireworks and a parade right from the terrace. Between the food, the excellent service, and the view, It was such a...
Read moreWe ordered an appetizer and it was delicious! We were seated right away and were even offered blankets for try crisp and windy night. The drinks have a lot to be desired though. I ordered a clericot and it was very mediocre- there was no bubbles and tasted like grape juice at the end which makes sense because it is bag wine they used. After, I wanted to try a different cocktail and ordered a strawberry mojito. This was easily the most disgusting mojito I have ever had. The water was flat and it tasted like water with some rum in it - 0 mint nor strawberry flavor. I had my partner try it just in case it was me but he was also disgusted by it. When we tried to return it, they were not able to remove it from the bill and offered to remake it or another beverage which we declined so we ended up having to pay for a less than desirable drink. I will say, my partner ordered a mezcal based drink, and...
Read moreThe food was so delicious that I devoured it without taking any pictures! 😂 Highly recommend the carpaccio with melon! Absolutely delicious and very high quality meat - perfectly balanced with the fruit and reduced balsamic vinegar.
Our server was kind and attentive but also gave us our space to chat and enjoy our wine until we were ready to order. As a side note, I heard him speaking very good English with a neighboring table. Bravo!
We had a bottle of wine, 2 bottles of water, an appetizer, a plate of steak, shrimp, and octopus to share and a dessert of chocolate covered strawberries, all for around $1,550 pesos.
Everything we ate was incredibly delicious and as you can see from my photo, the view cannot be beat. We will definitely be returning as well as recommending this...
