Aéreo Café Bar — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

First few times I went here had great service, even bought a shirt to rep back home in Canada. This is why I have not given full one star reviews as maybe this was just a weird night.

I was excited to find a spot that had delicious mocktail options in an eclectic, stylish and comfortable atmosphere.

Last and final time I went there was very disappointing. The “rules” for going to the speak-easy were a moving goal post. At first we were told if we ordered two rounds of drinks, we would be let in. Two rounds of drinks later- we were told we couldn’t go in because I was not drinking alcohol. Never had that issue anywhere, seems very unwelcoming and backwards. Lots of other spots in PDC that have amazing mocktails, I’ll be checking them out instead.

We had a pair of slightly dirty gin martinis that were made to perfection. Not overwhelmingly dirty, just a splash.. and with GOOD olives ... 2 of the best martini's we've in Playa. They came with extra olives as well.

Also came with 2 complementary iced waters upon being seated, along with a little side of fresh popcorn gratis as well, which was a nice touch.

The tab came to $300 pesos pre-gratuity.

I love writing reviews like this! What a great find. Diego and team are an island of quality and class amid a mess of overpriced, over promised tourist garbage in playa del carmen. We were thrilled with the quality of the food and cocktails at Aereo and the love that Diego puts into every part of their operation.
